It comes with a paper label but I took my plastic label machine and labeled each pill slot with the name of the medication and how often I am supposed to take it. Each slot holds a lot of medicine. Usually I am given 90 days of medication so I put it all in the slot and just hold onto one bottle in case the doctor or hospital needs to see it. The top of the pill holder screws off so you can put each medication in . Once you put all the medications in and they are labeled, I suggest labeling first, you screw the top back on. The top has a little lid that you pop up to get your medicine you need. The top has a kind of racket like action so you just slide it to the next medication you need without removing the whole top. So you just slide to the next medicine and get the amount of pills you need . The pop top on this pill dispenser is very secure and tight and that’s why I like it. Mine is purple but I bought a pink on for my daughter. The other thing is that it is also large enough to hold vitamins or large pills but my pills are all small so it holds a lot and I was able to use all 7 compartments. I highly recommend this pill dispenser but of course for older folks they may still need the other type of medicine dispenser.
