Rubbermaid 1786631 Antimicrobial Sink Divider Protector Mat, Small, Clear

I hesitated to buy this clear divider because of complaints that the sides don't lie flat. Those complaints are correct, but I have found a way to solve the problem. I placed the divider on the sink saddle and ran hot water from the faucet back and forth along its top length and both sides continuously for over 5 minutes, periodically pressing the suction cups against the sink. The divider molded to the desired shape as it heated, but I kept the hot water on it longer. Then I switched from hot to cold water, with the idea of firming up the divider in its new shape. It worked.The next two mornings, I had to repeat the process for a couple of minutes on one section of one side, because the suction cups had lifted right there. Since then, the divider has stayed flat. Note: my hot water heater is set pretty high -- I cannot keep my bare hand under the hot running water, but it's fine if I'm wearing rubber gloves.The clear divider looks great on my stainless steel sink, and I appreciate that the divider doesn't have holes to catch stray food and splashes. The length of my sink's saddle is around 14-16 inches (hard to define the length, since the sides of the saddle curve at each end), and this clear divider measures 14 inches along its top length, so it covers the saddle nicely.

This is the best sink divider mat I've bought from Rubbermaid in over a decade! For over 30 years, I've bought only Rubbermaid sink mats and sink divider mats. I prefer their quality, size, and price point over all other brands. From about the year 2002 until the present I, too, found that the divider mat's suction cups did not function adequately to make the mat stay in place. Rather than discard the mat, I chose to continue using it since it covered more of my sink than mats from other brands. Lucky for me I needed to replace the divider mat and bought a new clear one. The suction cups on it work perfectly; the mat stays put on my stainless steel sink. Hooray! The small air gap near the top is of little importance to me since the mat doesn't interfere with my sink use and the bottom side of the mat dries out more quickly with that air gap. Kudos to you, Rubbermaid!

Very nice sink-divider protector. Our sink divider is a little over one inch wide, and the sides kept sticking out, and the suction cups popping off. Tried weighing it down with a heavy book for several overnights to no avail. Then got the bright ides to use my wife's hair dryer on high-heart setting to remold the shape. That has worked perfectly so far- the suction cups hold the sides nice and flat against the sink.

I like the shape and size and that I have something to rest pots and pans on while I'm scrubbing them to avoid scratching my sink divider, but I can't get the side suction cups to stick to my stainless steel sink so it won't stay in place.

I read several reviews of the sides not staying in place and they were too stiff. Not so in our case. we just ran hot water over them to soften and they worked great have had no problems and look fantastic!

Well first of all,,, the Amazon product listing, said, the color is "white",, and the product photo/image is of one that's white in color.and it's not, the one we received is a clear plastic product and not a solid color. Secondly, as many other reviews pointed out, the darn thing does not lay flat along the sink crown and the suction cups are way too small for any gripping effort, and the cups do not stick at all. Very poor application AS INTENDED. Hangs like A STIFF diaper, even after repeated attempts to soften the rubber a bit in both a microwave or warm 175 degree oven. Next test will be at 300 then 500 hot, perhaps it will catch fire and end all this. Certainly not the "old Rubbermaid" quality we once knew.Third issue,, it's not make of over 50% rubber, its 75% plastic compound that make it stiff, hard, and rather not pliable.

I've found it very difficult to find these in the clear color and was so happy to locate them on Amazon. With a double kitchen sink I find this a necessity, not just a luxury, to both save my sink and my dishes. It stays put and provides a rubberish surface that keeps dishes and pots & pans from slipping or banging up the sink, particularly when you are cleaning tough stuck on food and need some leverage. I know it"'s saved lots of my dishes and glassware from breaking or chipping when accidentally hitting the center sink divider. Although my sink is not porcelain currently, this saved previous porcelain sinks from damage as well. The antimicrobial feature is good for obvious reasons and I don't see that on any of the colored versions, only on these clear ones.

I replaced an old one I had of the same thing. I have a white sink, and these protect the divider from marks left by metal pots, pans and cookie sheets. Keeps my sink cleaner. Because they are fairly soft, they also keep you from breaking dishes or glassware if you bang them on the divider. If you have a divided sink, I highly recommend one of these.
