Matthew Walker Classic Christmas Pudding 400g

My husband was happy to find a British Christmas pudding to share with his coworkers. The flavor is just as he remembered.

Arrived fresh and tasted good (make yourself a brandy-butter sauce to go on top). I think this is somewhat of an acquired taste, as some of my friends did not like it. I liked it and would buy it again.

Intense holiday pudding. Great with vanilla, chocolate ice cream.

This was a big disappointment. It was a last resort purchase as the pudding I customarily buy had sold out. This one had adequate flavor but was gummy when we ate it on Christmas Day and even gummier when reheated. Definitely not up to the standard I'm accustomed to!

I followed the instructions on the package and heated the pudding in a double boiler, and was very pleased with the results! With some hard sauce I made, it tasted totally like the old-fashioned "plum pudding" my grandmother used to make. And I was easily able to reheat leftover servings (the pudding is so rich that a small amount is sufficient at one time) by letting them come to room temperature, and then heating them, covered, in the microwave for 30 seconds -- came out delicious, and nice and hot!

The pudding arrived well packaged and well within best before date. I usually get a Tesco/ Sainsburys/ Waitrose/ M&S own-brand one if I can. I thought I’d try this one this year as it was available and price was reasonable but it’s a lot sweeter than I like and has a slightly gooey texture. I don’t think there was anything “wrong” with it per se, just not a recipe I favor.

The product itself is fine, I have ordered this several times. It is shipped in a bag and the packaging is always destroyed, and not suitable for gift giving.
