Excellent churchwarden - just what I was looking for!
I really like Savinelli pipes. As factory pipes go, they have consistent quality, a nice variety of shapes, and attractive finishes. They also smoke consistently well. I was looking for a prince shape in the churchwarden style and this was perfect. After a few smokes, it's clearly a great addition to my pipe shelf.

Beautiful addition to my collection
This isnt your typical thrift store cheap pipe. Beautifully made, the feel is like it was made specific to your hand. No excess heat in the bowl. I will say after reading reviews I've determined those who had a pipe failure are packing tobacco to tight and have not allowed for a proper break in. I expect many wonderful years out of my new churchwarden savinelli. Huge thank you to the craftsmen behind its design. She will be front and center of my pipe stand and already my favorite smoker *update* Still early into break in of this wonderful pipe. Wanted to mention that the briarwood on my is still a tad sappy. Meaning duringing break in you will here the natural oils of the pipe and your tobacco heat and "cook" this is a great sign. Several pipes I've purchased in the past are too dry and that shortens their life as they dont have the chance of a proper break in (curing of the wood) itll be important to break in slowly running 1/4 fill for about the first 10 sessions then slowly adding more. If you pack a sappy pipe to tight (and full) you'll damage it. Stick to the 1/4 ×10 1/2 ×10 etc.. until you've stopped hearing the curing process. Or you'll split your pipe or worse burn through it. Again this is a true briarwood, great pipe to own I love mine. If you're new to smoking research breaking in a briarwood before just firing up and it should last you a lifetime. Also a side note to single pipe users if you continue to smoke the same pipe over and over without letting it sit to reabsorb its oils you'll damage it. This is true to any pipe so buy you a couple pipes, I use this one as my evening lounger, which gives it a good 18 hours to absorbed its oils. This also conditions the much desired cake to give you that sweet nutty flavor note we all seek in a pipe. I'm going to be purchasing a few more styles from this maker. This is one of the best pipes I've ever owned. High quality craftsmanship

Best smoke smoke ever.
Wow. Just.. wow. I’ve owned a half dozen or so pipes over the last 30 years, but this was my first true churchwarden. OK, I get it now. Tobacco never tasted so good as it does coming through this long stem; nice and warm, not hot, with no bite to kill the flavor. No to bite. Yes to churchwarden! Also, much lighter and easier in the hand than expected. Just a pleasure all around, and the quality of the workmanship lived up to the Savinelli rep. Highly recommend. 👍 Throw your hottest burning Virginia in this thing, and enjoy.

Excellent quality but a little lack luster.
This is a great pipe, but for the price I wish it wasn’t just plain black. Just wish it was a little catchier to the eye. Smokes amazing, Savinelli is great!

Spend the money (especially if you are new to all this)!
I just started smoking a pipe about a month ago and I began with, what “all the experts” suggest which was a “beginners corncob pipe.” And I HATED it. Finally, I was able to “sort” of smoke and “sort” of keep it lit for longer than two seconds and thought “well, let’s go crazy and get a nice pipe.” Good LORD this is soooooo much easier to smoke with, far more enjoyable to deal with, and just FEELS good in the hand. A worthy investment!

Superb.
I read all the negative reviews before purchasing and rolled the dice. Glad I did. Lightweight, clean, no weird tastes, nice packaging, nice bowl texture. Update: A few days in, with extra careful use, and the finish is already chipping where the stem attaches. I have not taken the stem off or tried to move it either. I have requested a replacement. I will update accordingly.

Was für Pfeifen...

Beautiful pipe. Smokes great.
At first I was concerned by the lack of filter as I started smoking pipe tobacco with a shorter 9mm filter Peterson. Having now smoked this pipe for some months, it is without question one of my favourite go-to pipes. I absolutely love it. It confers a characteristic briar flavour to the smoke itself which I'm now very fond of, and it looks amazing as an all-black churchwarden pipe. Simply brilliant. Regarding transitioning from a 9mm filtered pipe, the 601 helped me develop better draw / blow technique as it's much narrower and has no filter (if you draw too strongly, you get bits of tobacco in your tongue, which is nasty). You do need to put in some work in improving technique, but that's half the fun of smoking a pipe. For tips, search pipe + breathing method on youtube.

Pipe dreamz
Beautiful pipe, well balanced and draws super. Was worried about being delivered given the fragility of pipes but all's ok. If you haven't had a chance to own a Savenelli, put it on your list. Even if you just want to look at it

Excellent pipe for the price
I've had a few pipes over the years and like the long stem ones as they keep the smoke a little cooler, not as harsh. This pipe has a few features I like. First, it's solid. The stem fits bowl tight and overall the pipe has a pleasant appearance. Second, the bowl is textured on the outside and has decent thick wall. This helps keep the bowl cool to the touch during a smoke. Cheap pipes you have to be careful of your smoke draws, the tobacco can burn the wall so hot. As well, the bowl is wide, giving the tobacco a good burn with fewer re-lights during a smoke. Third, the bowl is flattened at the bottom. You can put the pipe down and it won't tip over, which makes really good sense when the bowl has tobacco in it. I've had nicer pipes, but for over double the cost of this one.
