I used them in jello shots but I also floated them in goblets for the younger crowd. I decided to take my chances after reading some of the very mixed reviews and I'm glad I did! My response to some of the review comments is this - to open the individual packaging, just squeeze the sides of the plastic until the seal breaks open, the iris/pupil of the eyeball were still on the eyeball after removal from packaging, however, the bloodshot appearance was ONLY in the packaging and not, unfortunately, on the actual eyeball, the taste of both the outside of the eyeball AND the gooey inside, were surprisingly good. I was unable to taste any chemical taste but each color of gooey interior DID have a different taste ( some I preferred more than others).
