My son was weak on negative numbers and other basic concepts. Also, he is fluent in speaking English and can read, but he doesn't know mathematics terminology in English because he has only attended Japanese schools. So this is a great book for him. He is 13 and said it's easy to understand and the diagrams are attractive. We bought a used copy but it is in almost new condition.
