Many other brands of canned fish have cans that can contain toxins, like Polar's sardines I believe. As far as flavors in this box I like all of them. The lemon is subtle and fresh not fake, the Jalapeño is zippy and perfect for dips and salads, the Mediterranean is my favorite and I put it on/in everything. The plain flavor is usually eaten first right out of the can with some crackers, use the oil in these cans! Its flavorful and perfect for recipes. Sadly mackrel is kind of expensive otherwise I would live off it. Review: Tasty omega 3s - I’m not a fan of sardines and tuna is just okay, but I really like this mackerel, and it helps me get some omega 3s into my diet. I’ve never noticed any bones, and the texture is more like tuna (which is a good thing imo). I can grab a can and throw it onto a bed of lettuce for a quick, satisfying, and healthy lunch. The Mediterranean is my favorite but I like them all, even the jalapeño. I’m a wimp when it comes to spicy food and assumed it would be hot, but it’s very mild with a nice hint of jalapeño flavor. Just a warning, however—my husband can’t stand the smell, so be prepared with some gum or a toothbrush if eating around others!
