Piece of junk.
Lightweight, won't hold an edge. If you are trying to buy a high quality Japanese knife this isn't it. Almost useless compared to my other good quality Japanese knives. It's ok to take on a camping trip - if you lose you won't miss it.

Bought as gift, but it hasn't held up
Like many others, I bought this when it was "on sale". It looked like a great deal and I thought it would make a nice gift. It was well-packaged and looked expensive in its nice packaging, so my friends were impressed by it at first. However, since using it, we've learned that it dulls very quickly and doesn't keep sharp.

Cracked handle
2 plus years later. The sharpness of the blade was great, however the handle has cracked in 2 places. So I'm very dissatisfied. Its never been through a dishwasher because I don't have one. I haven't mistreated the knife, in fact I've taken great care of it. So very disappointed that my good care of the knife didn't do any good to keep my knife in good shape for years to come.

Very sharp and easy to hold. Fits well in large hands. Ordered this for my son, a professional chef. He ordered additional knives and is very happy.

stays sharp, and easy to sharpen due to softer steal
I like this knife a lot. I've been using it for some time and always reach for it first. the only issue i've had is the wood handle is getting beat up. the coating they use doesn't stand up to water well. i'm not worried, ill wipe it down with poly one of these days.

This knife is definitely worth the purchase, especially at the price! Razor sharp and looks good. Has stage chart for a month of use. Have not yet gotten it sharpened yet, but I'm hoping the edge will hold or well it will sharpen either..Unfortunately, the knife has become a small defect of the blade (point), as after the impact. The seller did not solve the problem and had to correct himself.

Highly recommended- cuts like butter
This is a very high quality knife for such a reasonable price. I also wanted to buy a pairing knife so this came as a set. The knives are sharp and cut like butter. I have been using the pairing knife to cut green coconuts and I broke my previous one while doing so. This pairing knife cuts the green coconut like it's nothing.The kitchen knife is very sharp and very easy to work with. I cut vegetables, meat and all sorts of things and I have to say this is the best kitchen knife I have ever used.

Good knife for the price. The box is very useful to store the knife when it's not in use especially since it's pretty sharp.
