Baker of Seville Bread Lame - Patented 2-in-1 Stainless Scoring Tool

Super durability and a nice storage box so that the blade does not go dull in between uses. I like the fact that you can both have a curved or a straight option for the razor blade when scoring the bread. Easy to clean and storage is a breeze. Handle size is excellent and very sturdy. Also very safe to put on the razor blades carefully. Would buy again if needed… I already purchased a year ago and then purchased this one as an extra gift for a family member. Price could be a little better.....

I love this lame it’s super sharp but safe to use. It doesn’t come loose at all like the other cheap ones. It’s heavy in the handle which I love. Easy to clean too. You can tell it’s high quality when you hold it. I’ve purchased two others on Amazon where you change out the blade and they fall out and I HATE them! This one is great.

Like it a lot. Good price, well weighted and a good length. The stainless is good. I like that it can be adjusted for either a curved or straight blade. The storage box is not the greatest so I took a star off. The slide lid doesn’t stay on track so if you don’t put your fingers under it to pick up the top comes off sending the blade flying. Not safe.

We looked at several lame options before deciding on this one . It has maintained its sharpness for months without needing to change the blade. It washes easy. It comes with a sturdy case so there’s no risk of getting cut when stored, keeping your fingers safe.

Though I'm an experienced baker, I'm just getting immersed in the wonders of bread making (Tartine Bread = miraculous). I was holding out to see if I could get by without a "uni-tasking" lame, but I haven't been able to find something in my house that could make clean and deep cuts. I researched options and encountered a huge range of opinions and views. I read about this lame on the Fresh Loaf website. I'm guessing that if I were more skilled/experienced with bread I would be able to make the cuts with a good knife, but I'm not (at least, not yet). So, for an impressively low price point, I'm happy to now have this lame. It doesn't take up much space, comes with an excellent storage box and extra blades, and I really like the engineering and weight. I feel far more comfortable loading the blade and knowing it's secure with this mechanism than I would be just sliding the blade onto a stick. And, this is the point, really: I was finally able to make nice slashes on my bread! I'm really happy to own this. Many thanks to the bread-baking designer/producer of this great product!

For being one of the more expensive lames, I would think it could come with a better storage box. This is by far the worse storage case of any product. It would appear that it slides closed but the top just sits on top. If it’s in the drawer being knocked around, the lid doesn’t even stay on. The lame itself is fine but I got this for the lame and the storage and the storage box it terrible. The size of the lame and sharpness are all fine.

I have gone through several BRead Lames over the years. Most are crap so I came to amazon not expecting to find anything I would like. As I was searching I came across this product that is designed by bakers for bakers. And I thought, "this has got to be a quality product". So I took a chance and ordered it. This is a lovely lame. It does not look cheap and is perfectly weighted. Why do I mention weight? Because it's important. You want a product that has enought weight so that it stays in your hand as you are slicing through the dough. I have had lames fly out of my hand. And this is dangerous as it's a double-edged razor blade. Anyway, to date I have used this product twice. As mentioned, it is designed with bakers in mind so it's a quality product. Second, it slices through dough like buttah. It's effortless to pull the razor across dough. Yes, you have to exert a little pressure but you won't have to worry about this product flying out of your hand. It's metal. I believe SS. And it does the job it was created to do. Thank you for designing a great product. This may be the last product that a new baker thinks of but it's fairly critical because if you don't create slits in the bread, the dough will not bloom properly as it becomes bread. And to me, that makes this device the most important tool in a baker's arsenal. So, what are you waiting for? Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Like many, I joined the homemade sourdough craze during lockdown, and this bread lame became an essential tool. It works really well for scoring dough, and I love the case it comes with—it keeps the blade safe and sharp, and I can store it in my utensil drawer without worrying about cuts.

Love the fact that is stainless steal, jave a box, nice weight when you work with. Can put the blade straith or curve. LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! You need that!

Ich habe mir das Brotmesser gekauft um schöne Muster in meine Brote zu zeichnen. Ich habe mich hierfür entschieden, weil Metall leicht zu reinigen ist und hygienischer finde als Holz. Auch ist es Spülmaschinenfest. Durch eine Schraube am Messer ist es biegsam für kurvige Einschnitte oder auch gerade. Es ist komplett zerlegbar, was eine komplette Reinigung zulässt. Die 5 Ersatzklingen sind einzeln verpackt. Einzige kleine Wermutstropfen ist, die Plastik Aufbewahrung. Die ist nicht der Bringer. Aber das ist nicht wichtig für mich, daher ziehe ich auch keinen Stern ab. Kaufe ich gerne wieder wenn notwendig.
