Castle Art Supplies 100 Gel Pens for Adult Colouring - Fine Tips

I last used gels pens maybe three or four years ago and my only memory of the ones I bought back then is that they were scratchy and inconsistent, making them no fun to use. Not so with these Castle Art Gel Pens. From the very first moment I started using them I could see that they were of the highest quality. The colours are vibrant and the gel flows freely, making them a joy to use either for colouring or writing. There is an incredible variety of shades available and the different types of effect (neon, glitter, pastel, swirl and more) means there are so many combinations and possibilities. They are also really comfortable to hold. The plastic pouch is sturdy and each gel pen slots nicely into place within it. Out of the 60 pens I’ve tried so far there has been only one that needed a bit of encouragement for the gel to flow, and there are a couple where the glitter doesn’t seem to be as well incorporated into the gel as with the others, however these are extremely minor quibbles that I have detailed only in an attempt to give the fullest picture possible. I have also purchased Castle Art coloured pencils recently that I have yet to try out and on the basis of the gel pens I am very much looking forward to giving those a go too. If you are looking for a product that combines quality, variety and value for money then these are the ones for you!

These are fantastic pens! I've bought countless packs of gel pens in the past, some a lot cheaper and others more expensive than this back and I can honestly say that these are the best I've bought. They come presented in a really nice, sturdy box which I thought was a lovely touch and makes them really nice to give as a gift. They really shout 'quality' just from the presentation and packaging...it's obvious straight away that they're not cheap, foreign, half filled scratchy pens. I've tested each pen and they all work (I've bought other brands where there would always be a couple that didn't work) the ink flows really well, the colours are amazing and they're really comfortable to hold. I've bought them to use in my journaling Bible and I know they're going to be prefect for that. The company offer a 'Colour Happiness Guarantee' where they will refund or replace if there are any issues. I got an email from Penny from Castle Art Supplies shortly after ordering which thanked me for my order and explained that they're a small, home based company, this made me feel even happier about my purchase as I'd much rather buy from small businesses. Overall I haven't got a single complaint. I will update this review after I've used the pens more.

This is my first time using gel pens so didn't want to spend a fortune on them at this early stage. I saw the Castle Arts set of 100 for less than 30 pounds so decided to give them a try. What an absolute joy! They are absolutely fantastic and have a great range of colours and sheens (glitter, neon, pastels, metallic, glitter/neon combo, and 4 classics (red, blue, black and green)). My only issue is with the white, which doesn't seem to work. I gave a 5 star rating because the rest are great and it didn't seem fair to penalise for only 1 pen not working. I don't know how long they will last as I have never used gel pens before but I would have no hesitation in buying these gel pens again.

these are nice quality for the price and were delivered very quickly indeed they arrived undamaged and all the pens so far that I have tried work.they are not scaratchy and the colors are bright and vivid.they are on a par with the sakura and for the money are very good i did find the tops hard to get off though the glitter pens are also nice and the sparkle and shine look good on the page BUT the color technic which do glitter pens are in my opinion far superior these pens are good quality but compared to the color technic pens they are not as good .castle do great art materials and these are a welcome addition to my collection but i ll be sticking to color technic in future just personal preference and there is a lot more glitter in the color technic too i liked the range of colors though that castle offer and for the money and what you get they are a very good buy

These Gel Pens arrived yesterday, and today I have tested them all in my swatch book Color Charts: Color Collection Edition: 50 Color Charts to record your color collection all in one place naturally I can only talk about my first impressions at this time, and I have to tell you they are very high. Here is what you need to know. The only Gel Pens I am going to measure them against are Sakura Gelly Rolls Sakura Gelly Roll Set of 24 Gel Pens, Stardust - Metallic - Moonlight , and they are not entirely of the same quality as them. However, the Castle Art Supplies pens are a collection of 100 rather than 24 for a similar price. Based upon this I would not usually dream of comparing a budget product with a high-end one. However, the quality of these pens is beyond any other budget range I have tried. As you can see from the images when I coloured in my swatches every pen performed as it should, that doesn't usually happen with budget pens. (I didn't swatch the white as there was no point, but I did test it). I have taken one star off the Easy to Hold marking, but please be aware this is because I have Fibromyalgia and I do have problems holding many pens and pencils for any length of time. They only started hurting past the 75 pen mark so you can get the idea how much colouring you may be able to do if you have similar chronic health issues. I am well aware many fellow spoonies enjoy Adult Colouring. The only things I would wish to change are: 1) A name or number for reference on each pen. 2) A softer barrel for extra comfort. (for Fibro reasons) Overall I am genuinely impressed with the Gel Pens and also with the company who emailed me after my purchase explaining that they want to guarantee that I am entirely happy with the purchase. Based on this experience I would be glad to buy any of their other art items.

Absolutely fantastic gel pens, variety of colour's, ink flows gently on paper and tip dose not scratch paper. Tip works well in fine line colouring. Easy to use with arthritis hand. Very pleased with item, glad I chose them. Thanks to other purchases for you imput which helped me make my decision.

Absolutely fantastic pens,.joy to use. Bought them for colouring in and do not regret doing so would buy them again. Have bought other gel pens and some I have found to be scratchy. Gorgeous packaging very impressed. Ink flow brilliant. Good value for money

Most of the pens wrote/coloured smoothly right from the start, some wrote well after some scribbling, and a few were scratchy no matter what I did to encourage them. Castle Arts puts no colour names or identifying numbers on any of the pens. If you value your sanity, that's a deal breaker. Whether you use these pens for colouring or writing, the fact that you bought a set of 100 indicates that you need a range of colours and would eventually want to know which colour is which, since caps are not at all a reliable indication of the actual colour the pen will write. Another issue is that these pens can't be refilled. However, I find that the size of refills is standard, so rather than waiting for Castle Arts to understand market demands, we, the users, should get in touch with proactive companies that do sell a wide range of colour refills and just use their refills in the bodies of these Castle Arts pens. Are the plastic parts of the pens of good quality? No, very average, cheaply made Chinese standard. However, they can be reused with refills, that's not a problem. In summary, this collection is rather expensive for what it is, since you're getting cheap Chinese pens are a fairly premium price, considering that a 48 set of comparable quality can be had on Amazon for around £7-8 including delivery. In my opinion, it's OK to buy these pens once to try but not worth repurchasing.

Castle vermarktet sich etwas hochpreisiger als vergleichbare China-Marken hier auf Amazon und zeigt das mit recht edlem, leicht wiedererkennbarem Verpackungsdesign: daher gut geeignet als Geschenk. Ich besitze diverse große Sets an Buntstiften (Wachs-/Aquarell), Alkoholmarkern, Aquarellstiften, und Pastelkreiden und -stiften, das meiste in Profiqualität made in Europa, Japan oder US. Das hier war ein Spaßkauf für die Metallic- und Glitzerstifte zum doodlen und Dekorieren von Geschenken. Aber dieses Set ist das einzige, dass meinen kleinen, bisher malfaulen Neffen so begeistert hat, dass er eigenständig an 2 darauffolgenden Tagen insgesamt 5 Stunden lang (!!!) konzentriert ein aufwendiges Adult-Coloring-Bild ausgemalt hat! Ein Junge, der bislang ungern und nie länger als 20 Min höchstens gemalt hat. Jetzt wünscht er sich ein eigenes Set zu Weihnachten. Und er hat schon wieder gefragt, wann er das nächste Mal zum Malen kommen darf... Alle Stifte funktionieren, keiner leer. Bitte dran denken, dass sich manche erst "einmalen" müssen bei Erstbenutzung. Blending mit ähnlichen Farbtönen funktioniert. Die Glitzer- und Metallicfarben tun das auch noch wenn sie getrocknet sind: Farben sind dann nur etwas weniger intensiv. 2 Kappen sind kaputtgegangen. Aber das ist eher dem Handling eines 7-jährigen geschuldet als schlechter Qualität: sie werden zwar dafür auch vermarktet, es sind jedoch KEINE Stifte speziell für Kinder! Fenomenal menal

I love these gel pens! I've been colouring more or less non-stop since they arrived. The variety of colours and sheen is just fantastic, and it adds a depth and character of life to anything I colour. I rated the sheerness a 4, but only because the pastels (as would be expected) are rather milky, and sometimes overlaps over the black lines when colouring. That said, while it's still visible, it becomes much less apparent after the ink dries. I think they'd be much better if they had a softer handling, like something to cushion the fingers while holding, as the pressure of the hard plastic can become a bit much after using one pen for a while. Other than that, they're a breeze to use. Some of them occasionally like to get temperamental and stop producing ink, and I have to lightly scribble a bit and adjust the angle until it starts to produce ink again. It's not much of a problem, as it doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. They're so smooth, though, and it really allows me to colour as swiftly as I'd like. Sometimes, when using coloured pencils, I become impatient, as I have so many ideas and I want them all completed as soon as possible lol and these gel pens really achieve that level of quick coverage that I've been dreaming of. I love the addition of neon glitter, as it pairs well with both the regular glitter and the regular neons. The combination really allows me to get playful with combinations and shadows and lighting. The regular glitter pens are just fantastic. When I look at the results under light, to see the glorious shimmer, it almost looks like a glittery velvet as the glitter is so pronounced. I love it so much. It's so visually satisfying. I'll likely be purchasing these again, as I swear I'm going to use them all up way sooner than I anticipated because I'm having such a good time!
