The gold standard of kitchen gear. Built to work, not whine.
If you’re reading reviews to decide on a KitchenAid mixer, just stop. This thing doesn’t need me to sell it. It’s been earning its reputation for years. But since I’m here, I’ll say it plain. It’s a damn workhorse. It’s heavy. It’s reliable. It handles dough like it’s daring you to throw more at it. The motor never hesitates. The build feels like it’ll last longer than I will. The attachments actually matter. Nothing about this feels cheap or trendy. It’s just solid and ready to go whenever I am.This isn’t some appliance that gets shoved in a cabinet. It lives on the counter because it deserves to. I use it all the time, and it has never once let me down.If you’re on the fence, get off it. This is the real deal. Five stars.

This works great with my KitchenAid
I am pleasantly surprised by this grain mill. It doesn’t have the KitchenAid brand name on it, but it works perfect with my KitchenAid. The grain mills beautifully! I have made a lot of bread from it. You do want to be careful not to mill a lot of grain at the same time as your motor could overheat. But I have done 4 to 5 cups at a time with no problem. I start at a number two and then pour the grain back in to the vessel and run it on a number one which makes it finer. It comes out, smooth and beautiful.

Great for beginners!
Since I’ve been trying to clean up my diet I’ve been making sourdough bread a lot. I wanted to find a less processed flour. One I was sure had no glyphosate or other harmful side products. I found wheat berries! Then I needed a grain mill. I found this attachment for my KitchenAid! It has a numbered adjustable dial for variable size grinds. I set my kitchenaid to its lowest setting and the grind size to 6 to begin. I run the berries through three to four times depending on how fine I want the grain. Starting at six, then down to four, two and one. My KitchenAid has never overheated in this process because I have grinding speed set to low. The attachment works great with my unit! It’s not overly loud but again I set my KitchenAid on its lowest setting! Grinding speed is slower this way, but effective. The attachment is solid metal so very strong! Always turn off your KitchenAid when adjusting your grind size. This is a good introduction to making your own bread from scratch!!

A great flour mill for the price!
I am more than satisfied with the flour mill. It enables me to make wonderful, whole grain sandwich bread! And a decent Focacia flat bread. I do suggest you read and follow the directions that come with it.

Waste of time and money.
Don’t waste your time this mill grinds poorly to begin with and the shaft that connects to the mixer broke within 3 small loaves of bread worth of flour. The shaft broke in an intricate cast portion so there’s not even a way to fix it and it’s such a large piece of the grinder that it’s not worth getting one made at a machine shop.

Returned It — Ended Up Needing a Full Grain Mill Instead
Summary:A solid idea and well‑built attachment, but ultimately not the right fit for our baking needs.Review:We ended up returning this grain mill attachment because it didn’t grind flour as finely as we needed for our recipes. Even at the finest setting, the texture wasn’t suitable for the type of baking we do. It also couldn’t grind the quantity we needed in a reasonable amount of time, making it impractical for our kitchen workflow.I originally hoped this would be a great way to use my KitchenAid appliance more efficiently and save money by grinding our own flour. Unfortunately, it just didn’t meet our expectations. We eventually purchased a full‑size grain mill instead, and that has worked much better for our needs. The attachment itself seems well‑made and may work well for someone with lighter or less specific grinding requirements. But for anyone who needs very fine flour or larger batch sizes, a dedicated mill is likely the better option.

Economical and easy to use
I read all the reviews before I purchased this attachment. I was pleasantly surprised after using this four times. One of the problems that I read about was the mixer itself heating up. That did happen but it never got hot enough to stop using it. The first two times I used it I ran it at the highest setting, then ran it through again on four and finally ran it through on the lowest setting. The third and fourth times using the attachment I deleted the first step and I started at four and then took it to the lowest setting of one bypassing the highest setting and it worked just as well. Because I only need 4 cups per loaf of bread, one cup of buds mills down to approximately 2 cups of flour. I generally do 3 cups of buds at a time.Having said all of this, considering a good mill runs $300 to $400 maybe $500, you get what you pay for and for what I do this one works just fine.

Working great, perfect for low-volume personal bread making.
Had this about two months and have gone through a couple of bags of hard red wheat with it. We make a few loaves of sourdough every weekend or so, nothing crazy, and the grain mill has worked great. Very easy to use and maintain. Just make sure you tighten down the attachment screw really well. I'm really happy we bought this!
