Well made, quiet, fast. Could still benefit from a 'Blue Peter' touch.
The lid securing mechanism and bevel were redesigned. A good product has just got better. Only one awkward chore on the cleaning side. I suggest cleaning the underneath side of the blades by placing a sandwich made from cutting a large 2.5 cm, self-adhesive, felt-type, foot pad, in half, sticking one on top of the other and a bit of stiff cardboard from a cereal box on the bottom. You need a thickness of around 4mm, so check that the top felt surface of the upper sticky pad just rubs nicely on the underside of the blades with the 'felt-sandwich', placed on the floor of the bowl and the blades turned manually for cleaning, with something other than fingers(!) and of course with the power cord unplugged, as is required for all safe cleaning activity. Pound Shop self-adhesive felt foot pads may vary in thickness so adjust the cardboard thickness to suit if necessary. If you are planning to grind in bulk this may not be your best choice as the instructions advise to use for no more than 30 seconds with a rest period of a minute in between, to prevent the motor burning out. I would not want to grind more than four tablespoons of seeds or beans at a time. Two tablespoons of flaxseeds just cover the blades. This product is perfect for fine grinding flaxseeds in the two tablespoons quantity that I need, in under 15 seconds. I am considering getting another one for a Christmas present for someone who does the same as me.

Brown rust oozes from around blade shaft
Hand blender, worked ok but after first use I noticed brown rusty looking liquid coming out of the centre shaft into the sauce being blended. It had previously been thoroughly dried after use.I washed and re dried it but when a day or so I checked it again I was able to continually wipe brown liquid from around the shaft. ReturnedIm not convinced this is safe for food use.

Brilliant, especially for the price
Waited a while to post a review for this as I wanted to see how it coped with daily use as a coffee bean grinder. I've decided it's mainly good - hence 4 stars with a couple of annoying features.Pros - looks attractive, pretty small so tucks away in a cupboard, grinds coffee beans really well and in not much time at all, cable wraps around the base so no dangling lead, button easy to use, sturdily built - solid and doesn't rock about in use.Cons - grinding compartment is difficult to get the coffee out from. I have to remember to switch it off at the wall before poking around in there with a teaspoon to get the coffee grounds out as I'm paranoid about losing a finger in a horrific coffee grinder / button pressing imbecile incident. It would also be a pain to clean, but that doesn't actually bother me much, partly because cleaning stuff is totally overrated, and partly because I'll only ever use it for coffee so it doesn't really matter. The fiddliness of getting coffee out makes this 4 stars, but I'm still really pleased with it and would recommend to others. I've had mine a month or so and it's used at least once a day and so far there is no indication that it won't keep going for years.UPDATE: had this for over a year now and it's used every day, at least once. It's doing marvellously well, and I've also discovered there is not change of an horrific finger grinding incident, as the blades won't move when the lid is unscrewed.ANOTHER UPDATE: just dropped it this morning. Still works. Is most brilliant grinder I’ve ever had.

Powerful little unit
Having enjoyed making curries from scratch and finding a pestle and mortar hard going grinding spices I bought this unit after reading many reviews on other similar grinders. It does exactly what it says on the tin, what surprised me was how quick the roasted seeds etc. were reduced to powder. It recommend not running for more than 30 seconds as the motor heats up, well in fact a blast of 3 - 5 seconds achieved the result! Further short bursts produced a finer mix.My only niggle is cleaning the grinders fixed bowl (the lid can be washed), I did expect this and actually avoided the ones with removable bowls for cleaning as these tended to be of plastic construction and had some poor reviews. Cleaning isn't really that much of an issue, a damp cloth applied a couple of times and then dried well left an odour free unit.Deserves 5 stars for build quality, performance and value for money.

Great Value, Solidy Made And Powerful
I got this to use for grinding nuts, seeds and spices. I have a burr-action coffee grinder, so haven’t used this machine for coffee beans. It’s a surprisingly solidly built item, well made and attractive. The lid fits with a very positive safety lock and is easy to clean when necessary. There is a useful way of winding the mains cable under the base of the grinder for storage. The operating button is large and would suit people with restricted hand movements: it doesn’t need a very hard press to activate. In use, it is VERY powerful. When chopping nuts, a mere 2 or 3 second burst is plenty- otherwise you end up with nut flour. It’ll turn a full load of flaxseeds to flour [which is what I was trying to do], in around 8 seconds. Yes, it needs the odd pick-up-and-shake to distribute material evenly, but that’s no problem. At the price, I was expecting something less well-made and more flimsy. This is a pleasant surprise. Recommended.
