Renaissance Costume Women Halloween Medieval Pirate Dress

I purchased this outfit for my first Renaissance Faire and was very pleased with the fit and comfort even in the 100+ degree weather on both days. The chemise is a lightweight material (bright white) that was soft against my skin and felt breathable/not sticky. I believe it is 95% viscose and feels like soft cotton. I did feel the need to iron both pieces before wearing. At 5'5"/appox. 200 lbs. (size 16-18), the 2XL dress was just long enough to cover the tops of my mid-rise boots. The chemise was a bit loose on me so I had plenty of room to move and not feel constricted. Alone, it does look like a nightgown, which means I can use for other costumes. The sleeves were comfortable and not too tight. The olive overdress arrived true to color and fit very comfortably without any alterations needed. If needed, the bodice laces can be loosened. I may replace the satin ribbon with leather at some point, but all of the materials feel like really good quality, especially for something mass produced that arrived overnight. Other reviews mention a sticky side zipper, which did happen to me, but a friend helped zip me up and there were no issues. I plan to keep this in my costume rotation and would recommend for anyone considering an inexpensive costume option. I will definitely consider purchasing from the brand Scarlet Darkness in the future.

I like this costume, for the price. The underneath shirt is viscose, so I'm not sure how it will "breathe". The length is perfect for me at 5'2", right at the ankle. The shift fits well but the brown corset/skirt seems to have a long waist, I do not, so I had to unlace the last two grommets. I like it for a one day Renaissance Faire visit.

Original review: Will update my review when a replacement arrives, but I got an obviously used product. Visible gross stains on the dress and armpits. Thankfully it didn’t smell. It was also missing one of the shoulder ties completely so I could only try it on with a clip in place. It was in a sealed bag that you can’t open without ripping, so I’m wondering who repackaged a damaged product without inspecting it. Don’t be that person. Aside from that, I wanted a replacement because I do like it. The green is a lovely shade in person. I got a small for me, 115 lbs and 5’3 with a barely B chest. I had the ties as tight as they could go and it was still a bit loose—could order an XS if they offered it. The green fabric is so comfy! It’s kind of silky and lightweight without being see through. The zipper is long and allows plenty of room to slip in and out. Pockets are perfect!! I’m looking forward to receiving a better replacement and updating my review. UPDATE: My replacement arrived clean and in new condition, with all of the correct pieces. I still absolutely love this costume and so glad I ordered it! It was so comfortable to wear while taking the kids trick or treating. The pockets are so roomy and didn’t feel weighed down with my phone and other things. I did have to pair it with a cloak to keep warm. I think in future for chilly evenings, I would replace the underdress with something thicker and long sleeves. Also please note the lacing in the front does shift like crazy. Perhaps I’m not lacing it correctly. But since the Small was still a bit big on me, the lacing puckered and was not as flattering as it could have been. The color is more like the dark green picture I included, not the light olive color in my other pictures. Overall, I would purchase again!

I bought this dress to wear at the renaissance festival. It was light weight, which is nice for a warm day with the ability to put a sweater on as needed. It fit well and was easy to adjust. It was an affordable option and I am glad I was able to dress up for the first time!

Excellent. As described, fits well. I will give it a quick steam to get the packaging wrinkles out. The pockets in the overskirt are decent, deeper would be nice but they are functional. The zipper is a bit fiddly because it's on the side but works well. Material is lightweight and flowy. Easy to put on without having to untie the bodice of the overdress. Just the right amount of stretchiness .

I am so delighted with this. Size is correct, quality is great, nice side zipper, roomy pockets, appears to be well made with no flaws that I can see! I will take photos when I go to the event in a few weeks, but I am extremely pleased with this purchase. The white dress is a viscose, more breathable than some. The outer part is polyester with a more natural feel. Color is great. too.

The fabric is a thick, heat-trapping polyester, which is not suitable for Renaissance Faires that happen during the hottest months of the year. Both garments feel cheap and costumey, but could be made to look nicer if you have sewing skills, patience, and a vision, of which I only have the latter two just yet. I am ultimately returning this as it will be too hot to wear to the Ren Faire, but also because it is too big for me even at a size small in ways I cannot alter due to the semi-useless small side zipper. I wish stores as big as Scarlet Darkness would stock x-smalls. There is enough give and stretch in both garments to make them bigger, but nothing can make them smaller without going down a size or pursuing alterations. It’s a decent garment for the price, but simply too hot for the climate and too large for me personally.

Little about me: 5’ tall around 130 lbs 5 stars for this dress for me for multiple reasons 1: quality of it is the best I’ve seen when it comes to costumes from Amazon and especially for renaissance festival stuff. Doesn’t make you itch at all. Material is pretty good. But easily ripped if tugged to hard in pockets if the corset is to tight. 2: the corset is perfect as it’s completely changeable. You can either have it really really tight or kinda loose feeling. 3: the undergarment is pretty flowly and not to tight. It doesn’t have the Disney princess flow as it’s not a princessey dress but it’s a really good breeze flow. 4: the zipper I didn’t really mess with quality much. But I do love its placement as it lets you set the corset how you want it. Then unzip to take dress off easily and without help of others. 5: the length I was really worried about as I’m short but even barefoot it was perfectly right above my foot. Which I love. 6: my favorite part of this dress is the 2 pockets that’s with the green/ corset part. I was hoping they wouldn’t be little pockets. But they are perfectly deep and fit my phone ( iPhone 14 Pro Max ) and vape comfortably and can’t even feel it within the dress while walking. The functionality of it was pretty straightforward and nothing seriously complex. And also not easily torn or broken if handled with care. When it comes to stretchiness it jsut needs to be handled with care as this dress is made to kinda fit ur body type or kinda flow with it. So I do recommend not overly tightening it because it will mess with the pockets as well. Another thing to add as well. The white part is see through. But doesn’t matter with the green part on.

Beautiful but unfortunately because they only had a size large and no medium I’ll have to get it altered. I would say definitely size down, if it’s available
