I really like this for quick soups
I really like this miso powder for making a quick soup base. It can be added to hot water with tofu, veggies, anything you like. The flavor is good. I still use a little miso paste and bouillon powder to enhance the flavor. However this is great for on the go or make ahead applications. Even though it was a little pricey, I have found that it lasts a long time.

Quick way for miso soup.
You have to use it to taste. No instructions/measurements on package. Tasty.

I highly recommend this Japanese Dry Miso Seasoning, Freeze-Dried Miso Powder!
Initially, only 13 ratings for this miso powder raised some concerns about its quality. However, my perspective changed after delving into the history of YAMASAN KYOTO UJI, a company with over 100 years of experience making renowned miso pastes and green tea. This rich history reassured me about the quality of their products, and I decided to order the Japanese Dry Miso Seasoning, Freeze-Dried Miso Powder, despite the high price. Having grown up enjoying the umami taste of miso, I initially hesitated to purchase it online. However, the convenience of this freeze-dried miso powder, which I found superior to miso paste due to its longer shelf life and consistent freshness, put my worries at ease. My main reason for purchasing this miso powder was to marinate wild-caught salmon portions rather than make miso soups. I created a marinade by mixing the miso powder with dried minced garlic, cayenne pepper powder, and rice vinegar, and then covered the salmon portions before baking. The result? It's a dish that's not just delicious but also a testament to the quality of this miso powder! This miso powder is costly, but it contains 66 servings. I use two servings each time, which will last a few months. I highly recommend this Japanese Dry Miso Seasoning, Freeze-Dried Miso Powder!

Good but expensive!
Okay, just to describe everything as detailed as possible I’ll put it into different paragraphs. But overall, I WOULD RECOMMEND! Me and my husband eat miso soup regularly, but I’m afraid of not eating everything in time because on some days I don’t eat much at all since I work so much and don’t have time. I recently thought about putting this into the pantry, along with freeze dried tofu and wakame (seaweed) and, of course, hondashi(bonito stock powder) for the convenience of making miso soup for dinner since maybe it would be cheaper than buying Kikoman instant miso soup in the long run and this works perfectly. First off, the white miso smells just like the regular stuff if it was dried, nothing crazy there I’d say personally. It’s a light beige color and looks like that store bought Kikoman brand instant miso soup. The texture was not grainy, maybe closer to the bottom but it is a powder but it’s not something you’d be turned off from. For the most part, it makes a smooth base and dissolves perfectly as well. I was originally worried since powders usually clump up but it dissolved by me just stirring. Overall, looks great and tastes like what my miso soup usually tastes like. Not too salty but of course it depends on how much you put in, but I didn’t find myself needing to add salt. Now, the only con/negative part about this is almost $20 for such a small bag (Hand for size, MEDIUM) It’s almost ridiculous. You can go to an asian market and spend less than 5 bucks maybe for miso paste, and I get the time and energy to dehydrate miso and make a powder but it’s quite expensive, that is basically $15 in energy/labor costs. It’s just very small for the value. Btw.. Half of the bag is already gone and I only made like 4 servings of miso soup and it says 66 servings in here.. absolutely not.
