What is the difference between the "1701 black" and "1701 black new" versions? Are the hands on the new version painted white, or also steel? thx

The dial of "1701 black" is smooth, and the middle part of the dial of "1701 black new versions" will be slightly raised, and the color of the calendar will change to black. There is no change in the color of the pointer, it is the color of metal.

what is the diameter of the watch in millimeters?

The bezel is 40mm diameter, the case is about 42 as it bulges a bit where the crown and pushers are. Lug to lug is about 47, and it takes a 20mm strap - which you might need, as the finish on the bracelet is not the best (sharp feel to the edges).

What is the actual diameter of this? The product description says 42mm and the watch information says 40mm.

The actual case is 42 mm. The bezel itself is 40 mm. This is a 42 mm case watch that wears smaller due to the bezel being slightly smaller than the case.
