DIY Plow Resistant Mailbox Post Hardware kit - Stainless Pivot - Standard

I live on a road with heavy farming and logging traffic. I have gone through 9 mailboxes and 4 posts in 15 years. I am hoping that this will be the last time. I had to have someone install this. Directions were a little confusing.

First spring in many years that I am not doing mailbox repair. It's only made it thru 1 winter, but I am impressed by it's strength and quality. It took some time to assemble, sure, but I highly recommend it if you deal with annual mail box repairs due to snow plowing.

It takes a little time to drill the holes and cut it to the specs but if you follow the directions it's easy to install.All the components are quality and seem durable.And the manual is amazingly detailed.Totally worth it since my mailbox has been knocked down once by a snowplow and twice by combines.10/21 UPDATE:This thing is still holding up great after about 2 and a half years. No rust, very little wear and tear. I shoot some WD40 on the rotating parts about twice a year. Great product, get it if you're in doubt!

This kit is far superior to most things we buy today. The hardware included is first rate. The ends of the stainless steel cable have rubber tips, the main bracket nicely welded and finished, included wood screws are of high quality, and the instruction book is incredible. Nothing is left to guess. As an aid to drilling a hole into the top of your pole, a bubble level that rides on your drill bit is included. You'll need to supply a few common drill bits, as large as 7/16ths, basic hand tools, and the ability to saw a 4x4.

Just what I was expecting

I bought this more to deal with vandals than plowed snow. I liked how it pivots up and down and side to side, but the illustration for the side to side movement is a bit misleading, as it only moved about an inch in either direction off center. I added a spring to the tether assembly to that is heavy enough to hold the mailbox up and in place and still allow it to swing a little more out of the way when a baseball bat is applied. So now I should be all set for both high snow banks and bored teens.

Good quality materials, workmanship, and manual. I'm sure the manufacturer is making a nice profit, but if you want this capability, it's the way to go. I haven't installed it yet, but I have no reason to expect it not to work as designed. I do expect there will be some adjustments to make to get the balance and swing right.

Hardware appeared very heavy duty. Really needs to add a video to show how item operates as cost to return was $10. The actual function did not serve our specific need.
