WPCTEV Stained Glass Rainbow Window Privacy Film, Rhombus 29.5In x 6.5Ft

DISCLAIMER: I hate what Jeff Bezos is doing to the safety & well-being of his workers and if I lived anywhere with physical stores that stocked supplies like this I’d be thrilled to put money ANYWHERE else. But for those of us in rural areas who need to know about a low-cost product to keep energy costs low, here you go. AFFECT ON TEMP: My kitchen windows are single-pane non-UV glass and it reaches 120°F at the worst point in summers. I’ve applied several window film types in the past elsewhere (anti-shatter, holographic, etc) and this film is by far the easiest to apply. The temperature difference in the kitchen feels like at least 8-10° after covering the windows. AFFECT ON VIEWS/LIGHT: I’m an artist and hyper-specific about color and would hate this if it threw a weird tone onto everything. I got the silver kind, and while it does block a ton of heat, it does not block too much light. There is a slight blue-ish tone to the sunlight compared to before, but it’s calming and doesn’t look fake or fluorescent-like. APPLICATION: 1) Clean your windows multiple times with both vinegar solution and 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water. Think lab-level clean. It really helps. 2) To apply large pieces, use two people. The only annoying thing about this material is that you can crease or put half-moon shape dents in it when unrolling, so it really helps to have a partner or buy extra. Cut to about an inch large on each side but not more. 3) You can use 2 pieces of painters tape on top to hold the piece on, and then peel the inside film off with the window film hanging in position. 4) spray on a lot of barely-soapy water to both the inside of the film AND the window (like half a squirt/tsp of soap in an entire spray bottle) 5) use a rubber squeegee (not included) or a plastic ruler with the edge covered in painters tape to prevent scratching (like I did) to squeegee out bubbles from top to bottom and outwards from the middle towards each side. Pro tip: bumpy terrible windows like my multiple paned ones will likely have remaining bubbles on the sides and that is the fault of the glass, not the film. It’s fine. Perfection is an impossible goal. As for the nice window on the door, that one came out pretty close. One or two tiny half moon dents. Highly recommend, sadly even with the consequences of supporting this late-stage-capitalism death-eater in the process.

While not perfect, it's an excellent investment. We have A/C issues and high ceilings and we bought this to cover the worst windows to help bring the temperature down. We bought the black silver tint. The most immediate difference I could tell was the temperature on the carpet where the sunlight was hitting went down drastically. As for the window itself, the dimming is sufficient while still allowing a comfortable amount of light into the room. It won't black out the window but it's similar to having shade trees in front of them, or like when the sun is setting in the evening. It's like having sunglasses as windows. No complaints there. But this is definitely a two person job to install. Measuring and cutting is simple and straightforward but the challenge is sticking it to the window without getting air pockets. It's a catch 22. It sticks to the window easily and I don't think I'll have issues with it falling off. But the strong cling to the window makes it tricky to slide around and adjust or straighten out once in contact. If you need to readjust, I recommend peeling it off and try again. This is where it helps to have help. Take your time lining it up and sticking a little at a time, limiting as many air pockets as you can, and the better it will look and the less bubbles you'll have to push out. We were able to remove most of the air pockets with a cloth, but you're inevitably still going to have a few here or there. It's not a big problem with the blinds down but the imperfections are more noticeable from the outside. First impressions with a few air pockets, soapy bubbles, and darker windows was that it felt like we were looking out the windows of a submarine. From the outside, it provides privacy during the day (kinda looks like smooth tinfoil on the outside, or a mirror), but I'd still keep the blinds closed at night. All in all, I feel like the tint will serve its purposes as a product, but it comes down to the buyer to install it neatly. I think it will pay for itself in time in energy cost. It doesn't take long to put up at all but that depends on how big of an area you're covering. We'll see in time how much it keeps the heat at bay.

(in the photo there's mirror film in the center and rainbow film on the edges) Efficacy: It works. I have stood outside, face against the glass, in the middle of the day, and cannot see my cat sitting in the window on the other side. Yes it's see through at night, but that's how windows work. Brightness: I originally covered my large window completely with the mirror film, but as some people already noted it made the light coming in very gray and it seemed like it was always a cloudy day, even in a Texas summer. So I covered half my windows in rainbow film instead, which gives off a much whiter light but is very hard to see through. I'd say it's a good compromise, I like being able to see what's going on outside. (Look up wallpaper joining techniques if you're trying to match pieces of film on one pane of window like I did.) Application: they don't tell you just how much you're going to need to clean the window. Cleaning it in a standard way will be fine but it won't stick very well. Personally I cleaned the windows with soapy water and steel wool, grade 0000. This grade is safe for windows and will help get much more grime off of the window than you realized was there. I've used it on my cars for years. (But of course you should always check your window to make sure it will be okay.) You can also use a razor blade but that's pretty time consuming and I find the steel wool goes faster. These windows are single-pane, very old apartment windows so they had a lot of paint splatters and built up grime. They also have sealant sticking out of crevices that I could not clean off. The film would not stick to that and I had to cut around it so that it didn't create air pockets. The film is hard to peel off of the backing. It wrinkles very easily and that wrinkle is permanent even when you apply it to the window, though from far away they look like smudges. (I did not have this problem with the rainbow film.) Even though the mirror film says you can reapply it, I have had problems with that. Since I changed up the style I had to pull all the sheets off and cut them to put on the rainbow film, and some of the sheets will not stick back to the windows. One sheet falls off immediately, another couple of sheets slowly peel off over a few days and I have to get them with soap and the squeegee before they come all the way down. The other sheets have stayed up fine though. And the sheets that I did in another room, that did not have to be changed, have had no issues at all. Temperature wise I have had no issues so far. It stood up to 90+ degree days and it's been getting into the 40s at night now. I'll have to see how it holds up to colder winter temperatures. I do think it has helped with the internal temperature, it definitely seemed like the AC was running less after I got all the windows covered. I doubt it will insulate much in the winter. *******Edit******* it turns out that I had put on pieces (that were reapplied and wouldn't stick) with the wrong side facing the widow. I fixed that and they haven't had an issue falling down since. However the corners have permanently curled, see photo. **********Second edit********* They stayed up all year long, in both freezing and 110 degree weather. They came off fine when I moved and I've trimmed them and put them up in the new place. I rolled them up for the move but they got even more wrinkles so I did end up trimming those out. Aside from the wrinkling issue they've been great and I appreciate the added privacy.

I always look at reviews before I buy something like this. I saw that some people had difficulties and others didn’t. I am not a handywoman. I was very concerned that I might not be able to handle this. With a ruler, a felt pen, a good misting spray bottle of water, a really good pair of scissors, and a craft knife, I did really well. You’ll be able to see it is not a professional job. But I think I did really well. These are very old windows from the 1940s (maybe earlier). I am almost as old as the house so it’s hard to say that it’s very old. But, I did not have any difficulty whatsoever. Getting the windows covered with a misting spray of water, seemed really important to the process. I used a variety of different hard surfaces to squish the water out. The best of all was a small box made of very sturdy cardboard. I could go over the surfaces several times with this and not worry about hurting the film. I think going outside every once in a while is helpful so you can see if there are any places where the film didn’t adhere as well as you think it did. The pictures I have added clearly show I’m not completely done with this set of windows. The bottom left pane it’s clearly not professionally done. But I can live with it. There is a little overlap, but it’s not horrible. You can see the upper right windows have not been completed yet, but it was really not hard to make a decent seam when I was more at eye level. If you look at the seams on the left window you can see that’s a really good type fit. I’m proud of those. I live in the deep South where fall temperatures are considered crisp when we’ve dropped down to the 90s. I’m hoping this film will be a nice addition to a decorator conundrum. Like knitting charts, I would give this a rating of beginner. Intermediate, and excellent experience of course can do this. But as a beginner, I can say I had a really good experience installing this. I like it. If the film separates from the window, I’ll be sure to come back and mentioned that. But after one day post application, I’m impressed. 4/9/22. Still there. Still working great.

Let me start by saying maybe it's me. Or not. My key beefs: * The - very limited - instructions that come with the product make it look dead easy. Don't believe it. * I assume the instructions were a direct translation from Chinese, so they didn't always make sense to me. Not a racist comment: just a fact of life. My wife is Chinese and our kids half Chinese. * No manufacturer's website that I could find. Clips on YouTube provided more info than the manufacturer. * Nowhere do they address any of the issues I detail below or give you any help on how to deal with them. The instructions tell you to clean the window - check. So far, so good. Then you're told to cut the film 10 mm *wider* than the window, but nothing about the length. I'm assuming they meant the length. Lost in translation? Trying to cut the width of the film would make the rest of this a complete nightmare. Next peel the - very thin - protective film covering the actual window film. Okay. Nothing too challenging so far. Now is where it starts to get tricky. "tricky" isn't the right word, but I'm not sure what is. You're told to spray the window with water and then spray the "adhesive" side of the film with water as well. Assuming the window in question is vertical, the water immediately starts running down the glass. Basic high school physics here. Then you're supposed to spray water on the adhesive side of the film as well, but the film rolls itself back into the shape it came in - rolled around a cardboard tube. I don't know how you can possibly spray water onto the film unless you have several people helping you hold the corners down. The drawing on the instruction shows one person apparently "hanging" - that's what it looks like - the film onto the window as if it were a piece of cloth or paper. Which it isn't, and it wants to roll itself back onto its carboard tube. So while you're trying to position it onto the window, it's trying to curl up back into a roll. Eventually I had my wife help me and after several tries we managed to get it positioned more or less correctly. "less" being the operative keyword here. Then you're supposed to put the original protective film back on the actual film, now on the window, so you can push the few bubbles out. "few" on the illustration - your mileage may vary. After pushing as many of the bubbles out as possible, frequently lifting one of the corners to get the larger bubbles out, we have it on the window, albeit with several small "creases", I assume the result of me squeegeeing the bubbles out. Long story short, I didn't find this anything like easy. My recommendation: know what you're getting yourself into, make sure there are 2 of you as you'll need more than your own hands. Read the directions and get everything laid out in advance. Be patient - I'm not, which doesn't help. Actually - hire a professional and watch TV while they struggle. HTH.

Not really one way but is almost there from what I’ve worked with. If there’s any bit of light coming from inside your house and it’s dark outside oh you’ll be able to see in the house still as if there’s a very thin curtain over the window. Product isn’t terrible but do get what you pay for, is more flimsy and easy to put a pinch into

I was pretty skeptical about this window film at first, but after applying to our kitchen windows- I am definitely liking it. I ordered these as a temporary fix to help cut down on the amount of heat coming in through our windows until we are able to replace the windows in our house- it needs a lot of updating. Let me preface this by saying that our home is VERY well insulated BUT it is around 40ish years old- it’s only inhabitants prior to my husband and I buying it in January this year was the man that built the home, his wife, and their children (2?). The AC unit is keeping up well, but it is also old and in south east Texas- it never gets a break. I keep the ac set on about 67° between the end of March until around the end of October to middle of November. Don’t come for me unless you live anywhere around Houston or south of Houston- cause you know how it is. The inspector we used prior to purchasing the home stated that the house was in great shape and there were no issues specifically with the ac and the house staying cool- but I want to ensure we can save every penny we can off the entergy bill and help our ac unit live its best life for the remainder of its life lol. Now onto the product: Rolls come with directions on how to apply. We cut the film to the length of the window panes, removed the protective film from the mirrored side, sprayed a little water on the mirrored side of the film then applied the misted mirrored side of the film to the window. We lined up the top edge and the right side edge with the same edges of the window pane and then using a squeegee, we got rid of all the air bubbles we could find. Using an old ID card, (you can use any kind of card), we pressed in the left side edge while simultaneously using an exacto knife to cut the film to the edge of the pane. Once it was cut nicely, we repeated that step with the bottom edge. Our window panes are about 9.5x9.5 so I purchased the shortest width of this roll of film. It’s a pain to cut to size before applying to the window because it keeps wanting to curl up but once you remove the protective film from the mirrored side, it’s pretty malleable. I got three pictures of our window during this process. The sides and back of our home is pretty shaded but first was at about 7:05pm yesterday (9/13/24). We did half the window and finished up today at about 7:10pm. Didn’t take long- in total maybe 1.5hrs only because we had to cut each individual window pane. During the day, even later in the evening (7-7:15pm) you can barely see anything through this film from the outside. At night though- you’ll definitely want to close your curtains. All in all, my husband and I think it turned out great as a quick fix until we replace all of our windows. (I HATE our windows with a passion). The film looks great and the while the width of the rolls could have been a little bit shorter- it still worked out perfectly, just took a little more elbow grease. Will update once we have the rest of the windows done and see if we start to see a difference in the Entergy bill.

Easy to apply, easy to remove backing - plan to purchase more! I got this film for my front room/office which has lots of lovely big windows...and feels like an oven during the day. It was easy to find and remove the backing, which I am pointing out because I got a different brand that was nearly impossible to remove, and the wrinkly struggle ended up ruining the other film. When I first put it up I was so proud of myself and thought “wow look what I did” (even though it’s not hard at all - literally just spray water on the window and move and flatten the film until it’s where you want it). Then I woke up the next day and all my film was on the floor under the window! Gasp, shock, oh no! Annnd then I realized I had put it on backwards. So I put it up again, this time facing the correct way, and it’s been up with no issues ever since. I don’t remember the correct way, I -think- shiny side facing in, but I could be wrong. If it falls off, you put it up on the wrong side, or didn’t remove the backing. The other film that I tried, with the impossible backing, was also slightly adhesive, which I don’t like. THIS film is not adhesive at all - it simply sticks through the magic of science, oooooh, aaaaah. I prefer this because it means you can move it around and reposition it as much as you want, and it’s not trying to fight you. Get the window wet under the film, and this stuff just glides along the window like an ice skater at the Olympics. My former oven is now a very pleasant temperature during the day. I can still see outside and my kittens can still watch the window lizards, but I don’t feel like I need to put my feet in a bucket of ice water any more. The only small downsides - it is see through but slightly blurry, like you need new glasses. And the reflective film makes it mirrored at night, reflecting the room it’s in, which was a little weird at first. Outside viewers can’t see inside in the daytime, but it is see-through at night with lights on, so not a good choice for floor to ceiling exposed bedroom windows, ya dig? Bottom line - two reflective thumbs up, and will be buying more for other windows.

Pas beaucoup de papier pour le.prix. Merci

I bought this 1.5 years ago for ground level apartment windows. I wanted to enjoy sunlight without worrying about my home being on display for people walking past it. My houseplants (Hoyas and string of hearts) are not affected by lack of sun. Works well on overcast days too. As long as it's brighter outside than inside your home, your privacy is guaranteed. There is a slight tint so on a sunny day it won't be as bright inside but still pleasant. It was very easy to apply. It didn't tear up. I followed the instructions and that was it.

Chegou antes do marcado.
