I buy things as a grandma and sometimes do not know. **Q: How do you play this game? Is it suitable for 4 year old that knows letter sounds?** A: The recommended *age for this game is 5+ but if a 4 year old is being taught how to read and is actually learning reading concepts it is possible this game could be used to help but otherwise I think it would be a waste of money and *not useful for any child that isn't already being taught reading nor is learning early reading concepts. (Some of the words in this game are just two letters i.e. "be, at, is," etc so if a child knows those or can sound them out it could be useful a little bit. The game can be manipulated to play however you would like; my 5+ years old grandson isn't ready to play the full game as is but we play our own version and it keeps his interest; we add one fly word he does *not know to challenge him, all other words we use he knows or knows well enough; this gives him the chance to "SWAT the flies" which he thoroughly enjoys.
