Nice basic laptop! Gets the job done!
I got it for a great price during the big prime day sale. For context, I have only had two laptops for the last 18 ish years. They were both Macs. Yes. I love MacBooks. However, at this point in my life I really have no need for the extra functions or capabilities. I really just wanted an affordable basic laptop. This is just that! No frills, not extremely capable, but really NOT bad at all. It starts up fast, works great, and is honestly made pretty well. The big screen is also really nice for me. The keys aren’t backlit buuuut… I don’t personally need that function. I recommend it!

Pretty good.
Chromebooks are weird. It’s taken me a while to get used to it. It works though. No issues except it has to be turned off or the battery drains with the lid closed. Restarting takes 5 seconds though. Internet connectivity isn’t as good as my iPhone or iPad. Which is annoying because it has one job.

Very Good Machine
Amazing value. This is my fith Chromebook purchase. I have owned much more expensive machines made by Samsung and Google. This machine is not quite as compact, thin and is not made of a nice metal shell as the all-metal Samsung or Google machines. However, it is very sturdy, has a great touch screen and resolution, smooth keys, and good battery life. It is very fast for basic web based work, document processing and running apps. Can't beat it for the money.

It's.... fine. 3.5 really, but can't do half stars.
I like it.... and I don't. Honestly- it's been a bit of a pain in the butt, but they overall functality is great. What's good: I do a lot of writing on it, it does well Battery life is awesome. Camera isn't bad, and comes with a little privacy slide thingy to close it off. The sound isn't as bad as most people say, but quiet. I haven't had any problems with the connection once I got it set up. It's fast, but it DOES freeze up now and then. Lightweight. Durable enough for daily use (and I do mean daily.) Good size! Easy on, easy off by holding the power button. You can't hear the fan unless your ear is directly on it. (Take it with a grain of salt, I'm in my 30's so I could be deaf at this point.) The storage is awesome... but... this much storage is barely worth having since it's about 1/2 a computer. The bad: If you play games with mods, you have to do this exaustive process each time you want to instal it. Honestly, still haven't figured it out. No 'home screen' where you can drop icons, you just have the hot bar at the bottom. I FKING HATE THIS. It's SO ANNOYING and makes it hard to find anything if you don't have folders set up. I DON'T GET THE POINT PLEASE GIVE ME THE OPTIONS OF A HOME SCREEN. Ugh. The keys don't glow, not a big deal for me.... I don't usually need to see the keyboard to type, but for some people it can be a no go. Opera GX doesn't work well on it (it's like... barely a browser at that point, not worth the time to DL it.) Getting into settings or using it as anything more than a fancy broswer is barely worth my time. If I need to do ANYTHING that includes downloading, uploading, editing photos, gaming, etc- it's literally a PAIN in the absolute A** to do ANYTHING. So yeah. Overall: I will use this computer until it dies, or I inevidibly throw it out the window into a pool of... idk, lava. But I probably won't get another one unless the interface becames more flexible and less like I'm trying to hack into my own machiene every time I was to do anything other than browse the wed.

Very nice Chromebook
I purchased this for my 11 year old son and he's really enjoyed it. Set Up was simple and chrome OS offers a great deal of parental control.

No back lit keyboard
Please be aware that this unit does not have a backlit keyboard as it was advertised a while ago I am working with Amazon and Olympus to get the issue resolved other than the full advertisement. It seems like a pretty decent unit.

Why didn't I switch over sooner?
I've always said Chromebooks are great for most people, but not for me. I need a machine that can handle serious multi-tasking. Well, enter the Chromebook Plus, stage right. This machine finally handles the workload I require. Unlike Windows, ChromeOS doesn't require huge resources, so the 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD are more than sufficient. I routinely run 25+ tabs and 10 or so apps at once, and this lean, mean multi-tasking machine just keeps up, thanks to the Intel Core i3 "oomph." It even has a quiet fan, so it never gets too hot under a heavy processing load. The "Plus" features are what seal the deal for me. The AI-enhanced 1080p webcam controls are built right into the dock and make me look fabulous. But the real value? It includes a free year of Google's Gemini Advanced program. That's over a $250 value (with tax), which means if you get this on sale, the device practically pays for itself! The hardware is solid. Battery life is an easy 10-12 hours depending on what settings you're using. The FHD touchscreen is bright and crisp, and the upward-facing stereo speakers are a game-changer—no more muffled sounds coming from underneath the keyboard! It's also super light weight at just over 3 lbs with great WiFi 6 and Bluetooth. And did I mention that Chromecast is built right in? There's even a Pomodoro mode for serious productivity, as well as Do Not Disturb modes to keep you from distractions. The AI-enhanced mics are excellent for calls, too as my contact sometimes think I'm in the same room as they are. One of my few complaints is the keyboard. It's not backlit, and the standard Chromebook layout has a weird slant if you're used to a PC QWERTY keyboard like I am. You get used to it, but it could be better. My only wish? That I'd bought this sooner. I now do about 90% of my computing on this Chromebook Plus. It handles light video editing and software development just fine. But for heavy-duty compiling or video rendering, I still turn to my Windows machine (since this only has 8GB). And of course there is the odd program that will only run on Windows. But for everything else, this is my go-to, daily computing device now. Whether you choose this Acer or another Chromebook "Plus" model, you can't go wrong. Like me, you'll wonder why you didn't switch sooner. And the eco-friendly packaging is just a bonus that seals the deal.
