The knives that are at these places usually have not been sharpened since they were bought from target or the Goodwill years ago. I spent an hour using the small sharpener I keep in my tackle box sharpening the kitchen knives so we could make dinner. I bought some cheap knives to toss in the camping gear and they worked but after several years of abuse they had had it. I found these and thought that they looked great and had good reviews. My intention for purchasing these was to have a set that I could bring on camping trips and vacations. These are in my car camping kit and they work great. I also bring them with me if we rent a cabin or Air BB. Out of the package they are razor sharp. Buy some blade guards! I have only had to hone them on a steel so far but they kept their edge extremely well.
