And thanks to the latest HDMI technology, the RX-V367 is HDMI 3D-ready with a simple firmware upgrade--making you ready for the next generation of "next generation" content. The RX-V367 Supports Deep Color (30/36-bit) Transmission The Yamaha RX-V367 supports the latest HDMI 30- and 36-bit color depths, improved from the 24-bit depth of previous versions. This "Deep Color" allows the rendering of billions of colors for far greater accuracy. Colors are so vivid they seem to jump off the screen, with perfectly smooth tonal transitions and ultra-fine gradations between colors. It also enables many times more shades of gray, for higher contrast ratio. Three New Volume Controls The RX-V367 has three new volume features. Volume Trim adjust the volume of every input to normalize your volume across all your connected sources. Initial Volume allows you to tune to a preset volume level every time your receiver is turned on. Max Volume lets you set your own maximum volume, to help prevent "blowing out" smaller speakers (like satellite speakers). SCENE buttons automatically launch playof the source controlled by that button SCENE: A New Level of Operating Ease Four SCENE buttons make operating the receiver easier than ever. They are initially set to default settings for DVD Viewing, Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button automatically launches a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, XM Listening, TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing. Browsing and selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by rotating the Input knob and watching the on-screen display. The settings can be selected for one-time use, or they can replace the original default settings. You can even change the SCENE names for convenience. Audio Delay Compensation Keeps Your Experience On Track The latest display devices perform complex internal processing, causing time lag in the video signal. It is a small difference, but because the audio arrives first, the viewer may feel that something is not natural. The Audio Delay function for adjusting Lip-Sync matches the audio to the timing of the output of the video on the screen. Surround Realism CINEMA DSP Digital for Enhanced Surround Realism Conventional multi-channel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. Yamaha CINEMA DSP is much more advanced, actually creating richly realized independent sound fields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialogue, music and effects ideally located in these separate sound fields, you will hear sound with accurate placement, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and richness, and startlingly realistic presence. It will seem as if the walls of your room have disappeared and you are in the middle of your own immense theater. Adaptive DRC (Dynamic Range Control) Yamaha's Adaptive DRC technology automatically adjusts the dynamic range of the sound according to the volume that is selected. Adaptive DRC refines the dynamic range parameters to make low volume sounds easier to hear (narrower dynamic range) while retaining the massiveness felt during high volume (wider dynamic range). And because our ears lose sensitivity to low and high sounds as volume decreases, it continually adjusts these frequency ranges according to the volume and to the input signal level. Large scale surround in your headphones SILENT CINEMA and Virtual CINEMA DSP SILENT CINEMA makes it possible to hear large-scale surround sound through ordinary headphones! This is a variation of CINEMA DSP technology that Yamaha developed to let you listen in private to movies and other multi-channel sources for hours without listening fatigue. Virtual CINEMA DSP lets you enjoy the effects of CINEMA DSP surround sound without using surround speakers (handy for use in custom installations where some rooms don't have surround speakers). It can be used with the front / center / presence speakers or even with just the two front left and right speakers. Compressed Music Enhancer Refreshes Your Music Yamaha employs sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms to enable playback that improves the performance of compressed music formats, including MP3 and WMA. With the Compressed Music Enhancer, highs and especially lows are richer and smoother, bringing music back to life to be as close to the original as possible. Yamaha Receiver
The device appears to function as designed. It was received on time. I purchased it because it was cheap and met my requirements. After installing the device I spent some time configuring it. So far, I haven't figured out how to program the remote to operate in conjunction with my cable box. I will probably need to purchase a universal remote at some time as I'm now using three.I will have to run the wires to the surround sound speakers under my house. I do not look forward to this, and while I would love to have wireless speakers, I could not find a receiver that met my requirements that also had wireless rear speakers. I perceive this as a failing of the current manufacturers. Why should we need to run speaker wires at this day and age? I considered rocket fish, but don't want to pay the price, and I'm concerned about the latency. My television doesn't support audio loopback over HDMI, but running the optical cable from the television to the receiver works fine. My XBox HDMI connection works great, and its nice only needing one HDMI cable to the television now. Switching between XBox and the cable box is a little slow, but not a big irritation. Takes about 2-3 seconds to switch between HDMI inputs. It may be my configuration, but I'v noticed a wide discrepancy between amplitudes on the inputs, and I have to adjust volume between them constantly. The television volume is far weaker than the Xbox. There may be some way to automatically set the receiver to handle the difference, but I haven't looked into it.

Great sound for the price
I was actually very surprised at the quality of the sound this system produces. Whether you're watching stereo television, DD 5.1, or an mp3 file it really surpasses expectations. I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for a low cost solution. The hookup is easy and having four HDMI ports makes thing simple. One thing, though, the remote on and off is difficult for many remotes to handle. Even with my Harmony One it is sometimes a challenge to get it to work right.Larry

A Best Buy
I have been using this system for over a year, and I remain very pleased. The sound quality is NOT audiophile excellent, but consider the price. I needed decent sound without spending thousands of dollars, and this system was by far the best "bang-for-the-buck" set up I could find. Nothing else even came close. I have had a lot of experience with sound systems, and I think this unit is really amazing. I was able to adjust it so it sounds fine used with my TV. Movies do not shake the house, but that's OK. I want to hear the program, not the speakers.

Great Yamaha system
I bought the Yamaha system because Consumer Reports rated it highly. I agree with their review, it's an excellent system! And buying it on Amazon was the best price I found, even better than eBay or Craigslist. I recommend the Yamaha HTiB and I recommend buying it on Amazon.

Good Value For The Money
I've had this HTiB for about a month now. It arrived packed like a brick! No damage to it at all. It works very well, with more than enough power to drive you out of the room. Plenty of bass from the powered subwoofer. Setup is a little slow, because of the insructions for doing so. You can follow their sequence and do OK, but I'm still tweeking on some settings. The Manual on CD is a pain in the toosch! Even with that, Im having difficulty understanding some settings and have one setting I can't get to change regardless of what I do. Don't know what that's about. (I'm a audioneophyte). Interesting that I found out the 393, 493 and the 593 all use the same receiver(V-367). So, the difference in price on these models is, why? A call to Yamaha failed to explain that. Hmmmm?Cons: Instructions for set up and use.

Consumer reports was right
This home theater is very satisfying and enhances our 50 inch plasma TV at an affordable price. There is an area for Yamaha to improve; the instruction manual is too confusing and disjointed for a non-technical person.

Yamaha YHT-493BL stereo system
This was 100 dollars more at Electronics store down the road. Glad I got it on Amazon. The sound works great - I love it. Just a little tricky getting the ps3 to work through it but make sure you read the ps3's directions. I am glad I didnt spend a fortune. A+

Awesome for the price.
Incredibly affordable surround sound system for a small space. I have a small apartment in NYC, and this is perfect for my living room.
