Good board for a low price
I'm 6'2" 220 and get into the 230s sometimes. Needed a board with a lot more float to put an emphasis on catching waves and having fun. I'm from Jupiter Florida but live in Atlanta now so don't get to surf as much anymore. Going to several surf shops in Florida to buy a new board I realized the boards they have are all geared towards average 170-180lb surfers. So looking through the internet I narrowed my search down to three brands made for big guys, JP was significantly cheaper than the other two and the only one on Amazon. I decided on the JP 7ft Bertha, at 68 liters it has the volume of an average 8-9ft board! The board came in with a slightly crushed tail section from shipping, JP was quick to respond and made it right with a partial refund. With no surf shops in Atlanta available for repairs, I was forced to repair it myself. You can see the repair in the picture. The board is surprisingly light for it's size!! Looks well made and shaped, smooth and nicely glassed. The strategically placed pin stripe along the rails works perfect for giving the appearance of a thinner board!! The only complaint is the cheap plastic fins which I replaced with squared brand fins from Amazon, the low price point made up for this. I added a traction pad and leash, ready to surf. Hopefully I'll have it in the water in a few weeks. If your a big guy or a beginner this is definitely a board to consider!!
