What does “125+ decibels” really mean — and how are Death Whistles by Itzcoehua different?

125+ decibels is the upper limit of serious Death Whistles, including ours. What matters even more than decibels is how the sound breaks when blown by a real person. Our whistles are tuned to sound raw like a scream, not flat like a train whistle.

How do you use a Death Whistle by Itzcoehua correctly?

The Death Whistle is a musical instrument. Using it is easy, but technique matters. Place your mouth fully around the mouthpiece and blow long and strong — not short bursts. A steady strong blow for 3–5 seconds allows the scream to fully form.

I’ve seen an occassional mixed reviews. Is there anything I should know?

Each whistle is checked before leaving the workshop. If something isn’t right, we’ll help. We are a small company and want you to be happy.

Who makes these Death Whistles by Itzcoehua

Our whistles are created by Rafael Itzcoehua and team. Rafael is an artisan inspired by Mesoamerican culture and sound. With Death Whistles by Itzcoehua, he aims to share his love of Aztec culture with the world.
