As an expert in indoor climate control, I have created a custom-designed single-stage evaporative unit for our home, complete with a pre-filter and a 2" MERV 13 filter. Maintaining a relative indoor humidity of 40%-50% is of utmost importance to me (and endorsed by the Mayo Clinic), and HOGARLABS has been an invaluable ally in achieving that. Really love this product so far. It has a nice clean look and is really easy to setup and operate. Just plug in, set your humidty and leave it running. During the really humid periods you are going to empty it out everyday but that is to be expected. It does come with a drain hose if you have a drain nearby like our old basement. Now we just use it in the kitchen and hardly notice it when running. Great value, time will tell if it going to last but so far it seems durable.

This seems like a good product and it does remove moisture from the air quickly. However, Amazon shipped it improperly. It should be shipped standing up! Instead, Amazon shipped it on its side in another box with no packing around the original box--and plenty of space between the boxes. The item was apparently damaged because of this, but the company was willing to replace it. I also made a formal complaint to Amazon, as shipping it in this manner can cause leaking of refrigerant, which is serious business. If you only plan to use the receptacle and not the hose, be prepared to empty it twice a day. On a rainy day, it can take about 1.5 gallons of water out of the air! The wheels are handy, and it's relatively quiet although I personally found the noise slightly annoying--not enough to make me want to return it though.

I live in East Texas and we have been inundated with rain, off the chart humidity, and higher than normal temperatures in late spring 2024. This has created an environment for mold in my house but especially in my bedroom and bath. With the bedroom door closed this unit has been very effective in removing humidity after a thorough cleaning resulting in improved sleep. Mold is gross and a health hazard but the mold is gone in my bedroom and others rooms because the high humidity levels have been reduced by this unit even with continued rain. This unit is not big enough for a whole house but it can be moved to do sections of a house over the course of a few days without going broke buying a larger unit. I cannot be more pleased and with proper maintenance of the unit I am confident it will last for some time. Yes, this unit makes noise when running at its highest fan speed. But, it gets the moisture out and that is more important than living in silence with mold. You will be surprised how much water this small unit can remove after two hours. So, run it before going to bed, set the timer and go on with life.

1. I bought this to replace an much more expensive dehumidifier (maybe 2.5x the price). The old one was was great, but finally died! 2. Getting right to the point -for the past 7 months, this model has worked perfectly! It does very well in sucking the humidity out of our (relatively well sealed) 10x12 shed. It is VERY RELIABLE. 3. We don't miss the old machine at all! (Well I do drain this model about every 2.5/3 days, which is on par with the older (bigger) model with a bigger tank that I drained every 4-5 days!). You could use the drain hose option that is included with this model, but we don't. 4. It works well, it can be set for selective humidity levels. It has auto-shutoff when full (and when reaching the desired/set humidity). It is not too big or bulky for our 10x12 location and (not that we matter) it is not too noisy. Sure, you can hear it, but a) it shuts off when the set humidity is reached and b) I did not measure the db level, but it is not terrible! We are getting another for a different spot in our house! Thank you!

It is very quiet as described but not as effective at removing moisture as indicated in the literature which states it will remove between 9.5 pints (152 ounces) of moisture and 34 pints (544 ounces) per day depending on temperature and relative humidity. The tank capacity is .66 gallons (roughly 85 ounces). I purchased the unit in the summer and have it in an insulated garage workroom where the temperature never has gone below 65. I'm trying to keep the humidity at a low level to keep my tools from rusting so I have the unit set at 30% humidity, its lowest setting, which it has never achieved. The best it ever did was 35% thus far. If it were functioning as advertised, even at the low end of its moisture removal efficiency, it would be taking 152 ounces of moisture out of the air every 24 hours requiring the tank be manually emptied at least once during that period. This has never occurred. It requires at least two, almost full days to fill at the lowest advertised efficiency level (65 degrees/60% RH). In fact since the temperature in the workroom has never gone below 75, it should be removing even more moisture. I am disappointed but will be reluctantly keeping it only because I purchased this model after I returned a different unit of another brand, that was not performing at all as advertised and feel stupid returning yet another item. I would recommend this unit for a small room only, certainly not for someone with similar needs.

Noticeable results within days. Absolutely love this thing. Despite its small size, it really does the job. I have it emptying constantly with a hose since the tank was filling fast due to the humid conditions. High quality, easy to empty, worth every penny.

This was the second Hogarlabs Dehumidifier for the humid basement. The first Hogarlabs 32 pints worked really well, and we decided to get another Dehumidifer to control the mold issues from the basement shower and laundry room. They worked well , except the bigger 50 pints was not as quiet as the 32 pints, and the moisture collected was about the same. The only advantage I find from the 32 pints was the water collection bin is bigger, so less need to empty.
