Excellent product. Worked like a charm.
I have a fridge I got from my Aunt. It's a Whirlpool Gold, Model# GS6SHAXLS02. Amazon wasn't sure if this was specifically made for mine, but they all looked almost identical, so I gave it a shot. *Note: I mention why below, but you may also optionally want to order a food grade silicone lubricant with this product.* The issue I had was that my fridge door didn't want to shut all the way, and sometimes, when you closed it too hard, it would bounce back open. This let to a too warm fridge and condensation inside. After a brief internet search, I came to believe it was the door cams. As you can see from the picture I was correct. The cams on the right are the new cams, and the ones on the left are the old ones. I'm sure my aunt didn't change them and I haven't had an issue in the 12yrs I've had it, but that cam was almost worn through. I'm surprised it lasted this long. It was very easy to replace. You only need a 5/16" nut driver or wrench. They were a little tight, but that's to be expected. You take one screw out of the cap over the hinge. Three screws out of the hinge and the door lifts off. I laid it on the kitchen table and the top and bottom cams have one screw each. The one in the door has a peg that goes into the door and may take a little more force to remove. Be aware that while the freezer door is the same, you have to unplug the power cable, which is under the top hinge cover and you also have to remove the grate at the bottom to unhook the water line. The grate is just friction fit. Pull on it from the sides and it pops off. The water line need the little raised plastic where the water line goes into the connector depressed and the line comes out. It's like a Chinese finger trap and will just push back in to reconnect. It goes through the cam and you may need help threading it and/or holding the door when reinstalling this one. The freezer cam wasn't in bad shape and had minimal wear. That's to be expected as it doesn't get as much use. This kit includes enough cams to do both doors and it also had two extra bottom cams, which probably wear out the fastest. I'm really happy as it'll make it last longer and it was a good price. They also included a couple of pieces of mesh, cut to the shape of the cams. I didn't know what these were for and didn't install them. There were also extra screws. I assume in case the old ones were stripped or damaged. I held onto them, but reused the old screws. It probably took 20 min with cleaning the doors, cracks and crevices that never get a good cleaning. The only thing extra you should probably do is order a food safe silicone lubricant. It's not necessary, but after doing all of this, I found out that it supposedly makes them last longer between needing to be replaced. The youtube.com video I watched said that he had to replace his about every 6 months. I assume you put it between the teeth as nothing else would have friction. It works excellently now. I can shut it easy or slam it and it locks up tight. No more issues with finding it cracked and condensation all in the fridge.
