Two words for this product. “GET IT” you will not be disappointed and to your question there is enough clearance between index finger and lion head. Be mindful that the index finger should be pointing downwards towards the ground running along the side of the shaft for maximum balance. So you will be fine. I’m here thinking about ordering more canes from them. Get it bud it’s worth every dime.
