The buzz that greeted Rend Collective Experiment s debut release, Organic Family Hymnal, included a viral iPhone worship video, UK tours with Francis Chan and Shane Claibourne, and a US tour with Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio. Now the next audio assault from Northern Ireland s Rend Collective Experiment is about to launch. Homemade Worship By Handmade People is exactly what the title suggests. Recorded in church halls and houses in their organic collective style, this new collection of worship songs fuses a depth of sung theology and fresh melodies that reflect God-given creativity. Themes of redemption, devotion and celebration make this a complete worship experience with styles and sounds that span from Arcade Fire and Mumford & Sons to Fleet Foxes and Snow Patrol

brilliant!
Never heard of this group but as CD was cheap and post free decided to give them a try. I rarely like music the first time I listen to new material but I was instantly hooked on this. Full of joyful instruments; we can all relate to the words (which are clear enough to actually hear) and be encouraged. Don't be put off by their confessing that it is all homemade and not studio-produced - with God's grace they have done an amazing job and produced a very professional album. Only recieved the 'experiement' album this morning but am already looking to buy another by them; it will probably be 'Campfire'. Well done Rend Collection, Jesus is with you; keep doing what you're doing!

super
I bought this because I had heard Build Your Kingdom Here and liked it so I wanted to hear more from this band. the album starts with " Praise Like Fireworks" which is a lively start and includes "You Are My Vision" a reworking of the old Irish Hymn " Be Thou My Vision". I wasn't sure as the modern language changes the song ( which is a favourite of mine) from a prayer to a declaration of faith but it has grown on me.Other highlights are Desert Soul, The Cost and Second Chance. I think it's great and have lent it to several friends who agree with me.

Not quite there for me
I like what this band is doing with regards to the direction they are taking Christian music, but I still find myself loving some moments and then cringing at others. For me, the lyrics too often are lacking and haven't been thought through properly. I don't have a problem with half-rhyme, but I think that if you use this tool then at least make the words powerful. All too often the words of these songs just seem to exist with no real purpose. The other reason why I have to give this album 3 stars is that, in my opinion, they have a talent for producing lacklustre covers of great songs. "You are my vision" is no exception. The new words are pale in comparison to the original and the new music misses the all the power. However, "Build your kingdom here" shows just what they can do and it is brilliant. I look forward to see what they do next, but this album doesn't excite me enough for me to want to buy another.

Best worship album ever, I'd say!
These guys really need to get more well known! I heard then at Soul Survivor this year, they're amazing!! Like a christian Mumford and Sons! I love their music, it's really catchy - and something fresh compared with Lou Fellingham, Tim Hughes, Matt Redman (who are all excellent too btw!). Their style is fantastic, and this is their best album I'd say!! Have a listen, and then show your friends - they need to be more well known!!!!

Definitely Different!
If you fancy a change from Hillsongs/Kingdom music, buy this! Great worshipful music with an injection of joyful Irish ingenuity and originality. 'Build Your Kingdom' is probably the best track and is sung in our Church with gusto, but the other tracks are really good, from quiet contemplation, to belting praise. A really original and refreshing production. I'd be interested to know the origin of the groups' name though!!

Enjoyed live and at home
I've seen this band live, and great to hear some music that doesn't all sound the same. My favourites are 'Alabaster Jar', 'You Are My Vision' and 'Build Your Kingdom Here'. A breath of fresh air from the usual Coldplay-sounding Christian bands I've often heard. Some great lyrics, rawness and real creativity in the music. The only blip is 'Shining Star' - I don't know what it is but I always have to skip that song.
