SKS GERMANY Edge AL46 Aluminum Bicycle Fender Set

The fenders look great and feel very durable. I've had SKS fenders on about 5 different bikes over many years. One broke on a e-Bike daily commuter after thousands of miles, but the others have never failed me. This model is different than the others I've owned: fender material is solid aluminum instead of plastic, and the stays only have one rod on each side instead of two. The single stay on these is a heavier gauge metal compared with the double stay on SKS's plastic fenders. Installation was fairly simple but I did have to trim some corners on the rear fender to fit it within the frame by the bottom bracket. They're stiff enough for some bumpy riding but the packaging did not recommend them for mountain biking. For commuting/city/touring they seem perfect, unless they could be made even lighter (carbon fiber?).

These aluminum fenders look great on my Cannondale - especially since the frame itself has some squared up edges along some parts of the frame. They're ultra low profile - you don't really notice them. The installation can be a bit tricky, but if you take your time, it's not a big deal and worth the time to thoughtfully adjust it along the tires (you don't want them too far away from the tire itself). It is easier to remove the wheels to install them as well. Once you secure into the bike itself, you can make the height adjustments afterwards, so keep this in mind during the install. I recommend!

Great fenders! Installed on a Specialized Creo and this width just barely fits the chainstay gap in back, and the fork gap up front. It does make contact up front. Combined with the fiddly bits that come with the Specialized bike, the installation was much easier than expected. The only place I had to get creative was in the rear, the mid-support isn't quite setup for this specific frame, so some clever use of zipties had to be employed. Good quality parts, nice and sturdy wire and the plastic end pieces seem robust enough. I'm using these with 40mm Schwable Marathon winter studded tires and they're absolutely as wide of a tire as you can go. Finally, these fenders cost almost twice as much as the ones from Specialized, but they're easier to install and fit w/o needing to do any custom holes. Go figure. -1 star because if they had included slightly longer wire supports, I could have had a more clean and custom install, but they come at the right length for most applications and have enough range to work for most bikes with 29" wheels.

These fenders are awesome. Fit and finish is what you’d expect from a German company = excellent. They provide all necessary hardware to install them plus some extras. As long as you follow the installation instructions, which include things like torque spec, you will have no issues. Plus they look great on my bike. Very high quality!

They look great but bend fairly easily if you try to force the fit. Value for money is less than average. If the dimensions are even a little bit off I would not get these for your bike

These are tough solid aluminum bike fenders capable of holding their position even when you are let's say biking on a punishing gravel trail in a downpour. Once I properly installed them nice and tight to my frame, there was little if any chatter or rattling noises while cycling. It took some trial and error during installation to determine the best combo of nuts and lock washers (and proper orientation to the frame) to minimize rattling sounds. Indeed after much experimentation, I found a combination of rubber washers and spring lock washers - both NOT included by SKS (meaning I had to purchase separately) - plus the black plastic rings (these are included by SKS in abundance in the box) to be optimal at reducing noise. Putting a bit of work and careful thought towards installation of these fenders ended up being worth it in the long run. For me, installing these fenders on my steel gravel bicycle was not a case of instant success... I had to tweak these fenders (and purchase washers, parts, and thread-locker separately, not included by SKS) for them to work for my bike. Many potential purchasers may be put off by the prospect of a protracted and 'messy' install process with nary any helpful instruction from SKS's poor excuse of a manual. I say to those potential purchasers on the fence with this item: yes, there will most likely be installation pains but these high quality fenders are no doubt worth it and will last for years.

I may upload a picture later, but these fenders don't fit a Propella 3.0 pedelec without pretty heavy modification. However, I wanted to make these work. I was able to slide them in place, but the fork and rear end were too tight to keep from rubbing against the wheel. I used a nibbler (not sure if that's the correct name, but it's a metal working tool that bites small pieces of aluminum away) to cut away some of the fender until I could press the fender closer to the top of the fork. I also had to add mounting holes to the frame and use some of my own bolts. I'm fairly certain if you have enough clearance and the correct mounting holes on your frame/fork, you will have no problem using their included hardware. Anyone who breaks the plastic parts is being an idiot and not following the 1nm guideline. Use a torque wrench! I managed to get these to fit with no rub with only about a half inch of clearance from the fork to the tire. That's not what SKS recommends (they recommend 15mm of clearance) so I do get some rattle on the hardest bumps, but these just match so well that I don't care.

Will fit a 2020 Diverge E5 Comp in case you were wondering. Easy to install, and the fit and finish is well above what I expected.

Ich habe dieses Set schon dreimal verbaut. Es kommt mit einem umfangreichem Set an Montagematerial um sich an möglichst viele Räder zu adaptieren. Es wird ja für City- und Trekkingräder beworben und soll Reifenbreiten bis 40mm aufnehmen. Genau so habe ich es auch schon einmal mit dem beigelegtem Montagematerial montieren können. Andere Käufer haben schon über Probleme bei der Montage an manchen Rädern, wie z.B. Gravel Bikes berichtet. Das kann ich gut nachvollziehen, möchte hier aber eine Lösung für Bastler aufzeigen: Es ist mit leichten Anpassungen, siehe Erklärung unten und Fotos, auch an dem ROSE Sneak+ mit z.B. Schwalbe Mondial 42-622 (der originale 47mm Reifen geht nicht) und dem Gravel ROSE BACK ROAD AL mit einem Schwalbe Smart Sam Plus 42-622 nutzbar (der originale 44mm WTB passte auch ganz knapp noch drunter. Man benötigt noch einmal zusätzlich die längere Strebe SKS Edge AL 46mm 355mm. Wenn man einen größeren Reifen mit größerer Höhe unter diesem Schutzblech unterbringen möchte muss man an zwei Stellen nachhelfen. Die Länge der Montagestreben und die Dicke der Klammer für das hintere Blech an der Strebenbrücke. Für das Vorderrad ist das noch recht einfach zu machen. Man nimmt einfach die längere Strebe aus dem Beipack. Damit konnte ich bei meinen Kombinationen genug immer genug Freiraum zwischen Reifen und Schutzblech schaffen. Beim Hinterrad ist das schon etwas kniffliger. Die Plastikklammer habe ich in beiden Fällen bei den ROSEs nicht verwendet. Ich habe das Blech am Tretlager mit dem Langloch montiert und den Abstand mit einem der Spacer oder auch nur einer Unterlegscheibe eingestellt. In die Strebenbrücke habe ich ein abgeschnittenes Wattestäbchen gesteckt, etwas Lack aufgetragen und das Schutzblech vorsichtig dagegen getippt. Genau an dieser Stelle habe ich mittig ein 5,5mm Loch gebohrt. Das Wattestäbchen wieder heraus gezogen. Nun konnte ich das Schutzblech dort, wie am Tretlager auch, mit Spacer oder Unterlegscheibe einstellen und montieren. Für das hintere Schutzblech kam dann die 355mm lange Strebe zum Einsatz um auch hier genug Freiraum zwischen Reifen und Schutzblech zu schaffen. Sollte die 355mm Strebe zu lang sein kann man mit dem Trennschleifer passend ablängen. Viel Erfolg beim Basteln, Tunen und Sauberbleiben mit diesem Schutzblech

Ces garde-boue conviennent parfaitement à mon gravel Kona Rove avec des roues de 27 pouces et 40 mm. Je peux enfin faire du vélotaf sans avoir à craindre la pluie ou les flaques :D.

Ho acquistato questo parafango per una Atala B-Tour a pedalata assistita del 2019: la fattura è ottima, i materiali sono di alta qualità con viti zincate e nere. Il tipo di attacco non era compatibile con la bici sulla ruota anteriore, ma ho adattato facilmente il braccetto originale Atala e tutto è andato su senza problemi. Bello lo stile all black e ad occhio la robustezza è inattaccabile. Ottimo acquisto quindi.

Firstly I must say that the overall finish of this product is outstanding, it looks & feels strong & sturdy. it's made of aluminium of a decent thickness & does not bend or flex as other plastic mudguards do! it has a positive solidity about it which makes it feel very strong & sturdy, which made fitting it simply more straight forward & easy. the final finish on my black carrera bike was simply stunning, you could not tell it was an after market product, it looked like a show room ready bike. In the wet they did what they were supposed to & kept my bum dry & clean throughout many a downpour. one thing I will say is this, although it comes with all the necessary fitting for most bikes, I needed to buy some additional fork clamps to fit it properly & professionally. So please check you bike attachments & fixings to see if you need additional clamps, you can get them on amazon for as little as a five or six quid, they are well worth the extra expense to fit these mudguard. definately worth considering if your in the market for some nice mudguards.
