Good taste, great coffee substitute
This is a very good substitute for coffee. I have really band acid reflux and recently my doctor told me to quit caffeine and coffee in general, so decaf was not an option apparently. I decided to try chicory. I usually drink my coffee black, with no sweetener or creamer. This was basically my only option since people said it was the closest to coffee taste (which I love) the scent is more like vanilla-ish than coffee and for me, it took me a week or so to come up with the perfect amount of chicory for my 16oz cup because the first times it was bitter. Now my "coffee" is perfect every morning and I will definitely purchase this again. The only ingredient is chicory so you don't have to worry about weird stuff. I highly recommend it

Very good chicory!
Very good chicory, ground to the right size for pourover filters and Aeropress. (Chicory mellows the taste of cheap Robusta coffees, and reduces the caffeine per cup. Measure out in equal proportion to your ground coffee ... e.g. for one cup, use half a tablespoon of ground coffee and an equal amount of this. Brew as normal.) On its own it makes a good substitute beverage but wants a little cream to help its flavour.

Happy with this. No problems.
Well, the taste is great. Tastes very similar to coffee. Maybe 80-95% similar. There are some notes that coffee doesn't have, which remind me of maybe black tea? It's a bit bitter in a black-tea kind of way. Almost like if you mixed coffee and black tea together. I wanted to get this for possible health benefits, and appreciate this company seemed like they were careful in how they made this. It's from France, not India, and the price is good for getting a whole pound. I bought this because I read it helps with gut health. Apparently it can help kill some bacterial and fungal infections by making the gut healthier, and I believe this is happening for me. Be aware this can upset your stomach, and I'm taking a smaller amount of the Chicory as my stomach adjusts (1/2 tablespoon or less per cup). Since starting this yesterday, my mood is boosted, and I had way more energy (Chicory has no caffeine, but I think the health benefits are helping me, as I usually have very bad fatigue and my gut health is very bad as I bloat so easily no matter what I eat or drink). Maybe I'm imagining this, but I suspect it's helping. If you google Chicory you can read about the studies showing how it can help, which I am excited about. A.I. told me that Chicory can mess up how bacteria communicate before they form an attack, and this can help stop them. It especially can help with gram positive bacteria and some yeasts. So far I've been adding the chicory in with my cup of daily coffee, and it seems to be easy to brew like that. I had one cup on it's own just to try the taste, and liked that as well.
