Switched to this product when my cattle dog tested highly reactive to beef.
In an effort to ban beef and bovine products from my dog's diet (at least for now), I purchased this to make her gelatin treats. It sets up similar to the typical beef based gelatins but requires boiling to set instead of blooming and refrigeration. That makes it a quicker process if I find I am running low. I learned about aga agar in culinary school but this is the first time personally using it. I found making the switch to be easy and successful the first try.

Good product but needs a lot of work
It's good for plants as a rooting agent

Perfect Plant-Based Gummy Base
After experimenting with store-bought gummies full of gelatin and artificial ingredients, I tried making my own healthy version using this agar agar powder. The results were surprisingly good – with a few learning curves along the way. What Worked Well: - Created firm, bite-resistant gummy worms that held shape perfectly - Neutral taste didn't compete with my fruit juice flavors - Set up faster than gelatin (about 15-20 minutes at room temp) - Vegan/kosher/halal friendly unlike animal-based gelatin The Learning Process: First batch mistakes: • Used too much powder = rubbery texture • Didn't stir enough = slight graininess • Poured too hot = fruit juice nutrients degraded Texture Notes: - More "al dente" than gelatin gummies - Less melt-in-your-mouth, more substantial chew - Holds up better in lunchboxes Tips: 1. Add 1/4 tsp citric acid for sour gummies 2. Use silicone molds for easiest release 3. Dust with arrowroot powder to prevent sticking 4. Works great with fresh juice or herbal teas 5.Perfect batch formula: - 1 tsp powder per cup liquid - Constant whisking while cooling - Added flavors at 140°F (60°C) Unexpected Benefits: - The kids didn't notice the switch from store gummies - Cleanup was easier than sticky gelatin - Shelf-stable at room temperature While it requires some technique adjustments, this agar agar makes exceptional healthy gummies. The texture takes getting used to, but the nutritional benefits outweigh the learning curve. Worth buying in bulk if you're serious about clean snacks.

recommended, easy to use
first time user who has had a lot of experience with gelatin. agar agar worked fine. however, gelatin is more rubbery, smoother on the surface and chewy.

A fine product
It won’t make gummies how we have them in the US but more of a soft or hard jelly. So the agar agar does its job. It’s a nice and fine powder that dissolves quickly without lumps but don’t think you’ll be able to make gummies with the same texture as usu g gelatin
