Now I'm relatively a beginner but my hammer control is pretty good, and I'm not hitting cold metal
The face sounds absolutely hollow when struck, ball bearing hardly bounces, the face and edges are dinging and chipping. Now I'm relatively a beginner but my hammer control is pretty good, and I'm not hitting cold metal. It's as if it was never heat treated. I'm back to using my 1902 Phoenix warranted.

Great Anvil for the mobile farrier
I have been a farrier for almost 30 years and have exclusively used this exact anvil. What I like about this anvil is the size of the flat surface. All the smaller anvils, ie, less than 100 lbs tend to have too small of a flat area to work shoes on. The larger flat surface allows for flattening your shoes. The turning cams are a nice addition and the overall shape of the horn is perfect for finding that right curve. The metal is not too soft and is just right. Anything heavier would be nice for a stationary set up, but if you are shoeing out of a truck, I would not want anything heavier to move around. Amazing is that the price has not really increased in 30 years. Great product.
