Product description The Tonka bean is the 3-4 cm long, almond-shaped, dark brown seed of the Tonka tree, which is mainly cultivated in Venezuela and Nigeria. The seeds were formerly used as a vanilla substitute. Tip : Due to its high coumarin content, a dish should contain a maximum of 70 mg tonka bean per kg of food. Due to the intense aroma, it is usually no longer needed. The tonka beans from BenCondito are supplied in an airtight, food safe spice tin suitable for spices. In this way the natural taste and full aroma of the whole Tonka bean is preserved until the last portion. Our spices are exclusively without flavour enhancers, artificial flavours and colourings or preservatives. It is also very important to us that all our spices and spice mixtures are free of lactose and/or gluten and can also be used for vegetarian and vegan cuisine. Lovely smell & taste
I was made a gin and tonic with grated Tonka bean in it and loved it. So naturally when I got the opportunity I had to get some! It's a pricey product but well worth it. Supplied in a nice tin and sealed in a bag inside.
