Kidde Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, WiFi, Alexa Compatible Device, Hardwired w/Battery Backup, Voice & App Alerts

Have owned this for about 14 months now. I mainly bought it because my previous fire alarms were Kidde and I could use the existing mount and wiring. No false alarms so far, and the wi-fi connection has been mostly good. There was a slight hiccup where I changed my router to a different model but I set up the wifi SSID and password to be the same as before. Most of my wireless devices were able to connect to the wifi again without any issue but for this smoke detector, I had to reset it and reconnect it again. I've also had a few instances where the app would show that the smoke detector has disconnected but then it reconnects shortly after. But most of the time it's stable. I would buy it again if I need a new one again.

I have given this product one star only because I cannot give it zero. It is the worst smoke detector I’ve ever had. Originally bought this item in March after moving to my new home. I chose this brand because there were already two existing smoke detectors. I installed it and a week later it failed to work properly and kept false alarming at all hours of the day and night. I couldn’t bus or reset the device unless I totally disconnected it from the power supply line. I returned it and got an exchange in replacement. I installed the replacement device. A month later the pre-existing devices started false alarming. I could hush and reset them from the app. About two weeks ago I was away at a conference. I received a text message from my dog sitter. She stated when she arrived that all the alarms were going off. I had not gotten an alert in the app. She stated that she tried to reset them, but she could not get them to stop alarming. I opened up the app to see if I could reset them. Unfortunately, I could not by this time my animals were going crazy. The dog sitter was at her wits end and I was disgusted. I asked that she please just disconnect the devices from the power source. She removed two of the devices however she could not reach the third one that it’s in the upstairs hallway as it was too high for her to be able to reach even with a stepstool. That is one of The existing devices. When I returned home from my business trip, I attempted to troubleshoot the devices to no avail. Over the past two weeks the one remaining device has been alarming at all hours of the day and night for seemingly no reason. I have dusted it. I have vacuumed it. I made sure that there was no humidity affecting it, I kept my house at a steady 76° temperature. It keeps alarming for no reason. Yesterday while having out-of-town company, the two disconnected devices begin alarming for no apparent reason. When would go off it would set the other two this has been nothing but a literal headache. I have decided to take all three of them down. I have deactivated them entirely. By doing so they cannot be used again. Once you turn the battery power off it essentially deactivates the device and it’s no longer serviceable. At this point all I wanted to do was shut off the noise . I have decided to go with an entirely different brand as this one literally is a headache. Save yourself the trouble and try something else.

Backwards compatible (plug and base) with Model#: i12010SCO (which has probably been in the house for at least 10 years). The only tricky part of installation was linking to the network; if you don’t have all your network passwords at hand, the window closes and the smoke detector stops “blinking”, eliminating the quick set up option. The work-around was to take the new unit down, unplug it, turn the battery dial to “off”, then back to “on”, and start over. (The battery dial itself was a bit hidden- don’t install until you turn it on!) After this reboot, worked great, quick set up option restored. I’m so glad the company made these backward compatible, and improved the battery switch to an obvious dial from the old nightmare rotating slide thing; well done!

it was time to replace all my alarms, Select this product because old ones was also Kidde, it is good to see your alarms in your smart device list on Alexa or Google, (But I have to say they are not even showing battery status on software its just test your device and ping it) if you want to control alarm with your phone go ahead order it, but just for test and ping its not worth to pay $40 more. on the other hand I suggest Kidde is really good for alarms and their equipment does its job.

Seller was great - excellent price and brand new product arrived in perfect condition. I purchased these three Kidde SMART (WiFi-iOS phone app ready) hardwired, ten-year lithium battery back-up, voice alerts, CO and Smoke detectors. I installed them together with an additional five hard-wiredKidde (not WiFi-iOS ready) CO and Smoke detectors with the ten-year battery back up, voice alerts, for a total of 8 hard-wired detectors to replace the old ones in our home. Turned off the dedicated 120 V AC circuit for them, took out the old detectors and put in the new ones. For the three SMART detectors you need to turn the power back on to pair them with the WiFi and that worked ultra smoothly with the QR code on each detector. I then installed all other five detectors, turn the power back on, and tested each one out and their interconnection - all worked perfectly and the iPhone app as well. It's been a couple of weeks and they are monitoring fine - no random alerts or sounds so far, unlike the previous old detectors, and I've tested them out repeatedly to make sure everything is working including the iPhone app. Could not be more pleased with Kidde SMART and non-WiFi CO and CO detectors !!! It's had thoroughly investigated numerous reviews including Consumer Reports and based on that and my experience with the Kidde device believe them to be the best for reliability, fit for a large house, value, and safety for the family. Worth many times the money spent. Recommended with the very highest enthusiasm for ease of installation, too.
