The figures are made out of a hard plastic substance, but because they are used with preschoolers and not babies, I haven't had to be worried about the kids putting them in their mouths. **Q: Is this PVC free?** A: There is no indication on any of the packaging that it is PVC free. **Q: What is the size of the sail?** A: As I recall it is about 6x8. I love the figurines, the details are cute, I love the names on the back and the little boat. It also does come with Judas but we got rid of that one. We teach about Judas in our own way and don’t need a figurine around all the time.The sail on the boat will come apart often but you can either keep putting it together, use the boat without it or crazy glue it.This is the most amazing tool to teach kids the disciples and let them connect with Jesus in their own way. This toy is so near and dear to my heart. I suggest for anyway trying to introduce and teach about Jesus to their kids.
