Wow, nice hoist
Bought this to help me pull a hydraulic motor out of my skid steer. Iโm still procrastinating on doing the job because the leak isnโt that bad and thereโs still another 500 hours before I need to change the fluid anyhow. So, there. Anyway, I have the hoist connected to some overhead trusses in my shop and am looking forward to using it. The mechanism works really easy and lifts the hook smoothly at a slow, consistent rate. And the capacity of it will handle remarkable weight. Very pleased so far.

Works as advertised
Pretty handy around a DYI shop. I use it to lift heavier items to perform maintenance or replacement on tractor and mower parts. I couldn't say it would pull an engine, but it does well lifting cylinder heads off of blocks. Build quality seems fine for the cost.

Nice!
Works great, just like the larger ones except this is smaller and lighter. Perfect for loads less than 400 or so lbs.

Great small hoist.
Great small hoist. Seems small, but testing documents included state this hoist will lift 50% more that it's rated for. Small but very effective for it's size. Recommend tool.

Product failure
Not satisfied, first lift i made with it was a 265 pound flange and it struggled, got it about 3 feet off the ground and the pull chain broke

Allowed me to lift my Craftsman table saw and change out the wheels
The YATOINTO Chain Hoist 1/4 Ton Capacity w/ 2 Lift Sling Straps and Gloves has allowed me to (finally) change out the casters beneath my Craftsman table saw without injuring myself and without assistance. I don't know how heavy the table saw is, but it includes a LOT of steel in the construction. The included lift sling straps were not long enough to completely wrap around the table saw, so I used 1" x 10' lift strap to wrap around the "handles" of the included lift sling straps to bring them together and nestle them into the hoist hook. After I got the weight distribution good in the straps I didn't have any issue with lifting the table saw. I started slow and cautious at first and gradually felt confident that it was securely in the air. The only annoying aspect of using this chain hoist, is that as the item is being lifted, the load-bearing chain (to differentiate from the operational chain) comes down and sits on the item. The higher you lift it, the more chain comes through the gear and hangs on the item. Unfortunately I didn't take a good photo to show this. While pulling the operational chain in the lifting direction, the gear box makes a slight clicking noise (which is probably expected), whereas while lowering the gear box sounds smooth (video included). While using the operational chain to lift and lower, it is important for the user to be directly in front of the gear box (not to either side) so that the links don't snag on the side of the gear box body. While lifting, I had to exert effort using both arms to get it in the air. While lowering, I could gently pull to slowly lower, which was really good for what I was doing, with setting the table saw down on the stand and needing to align the mounting holes. This chain hoist was just what I needed to safely complete the caster wheels swap out. I recommend this for "small" jobs such as this.

Very Light Duty
Very light duty hoist, 1/4 ton (listed@550lbs), useful on small jobs but I would not push the 1/4 ton limit. As a test, I tried lifting one of my portable generators that weighs less than 150lbs. Fairly easy to lift, but the hand pull chain is quite small and tended to slip through my hands. That chain is not load-bearing (so no problem) but it does explain why a pair of rubber gloves are included: they are for grip and not necessarily for protection. The load chain brake works okay, but it was difficult to release with that small chain while under the <150lb load. So, at less than half the suggested capacity, the chain had to be aggressively cycled back and forth to release the brake. That action felt rough and I did not like the potential circumstances. That raised the hairs on the back of my neck. The included lift sling straps are unremarkable, with one exception: they probably have a higher lift capability than the chain hoist itself. Similar straps are rated well above a half ton (~1000lbs) or more. Because of the chain ratcheting/brake release issues, I can only rate this hoist at about average. If physical size constraints are not an issue for you, I would opt for a 1/2 ton hoist instead and pass on this one.
