Some people said the spread had a bad smell but while there was a slight new smell to it it went away very quickly. I haven't washed it yet. I am using the spread over a comforter. When it gets hot this summer I will just use with a sheet. The quilt isn't very long. I have a regular twin and it is just long enough to cover the mattress and make it to the top of the bed where the pillow with the sham sits on top of it. Might be,a good idea to measure. Just love it.
