Yamaha Trumpet Mouthpiece Bobby Shew Signature Lead (YAC SHEWLEAD),Silver

Was bought as a gift for a young trumpet player. She loves this mouthpiece. She has several mouthpieces from Bach, 7c and 3c, but she prefers this one. It was a great price. It was exceptionally well made. Very smooth and the finish was perfect. Her tonal quality is excellent when using this mouthpiece. She loves how she sounds when playing high notes as well as how it performs in the lower range. It is a very versatile mouthpiece. She plays several trumpets. A professional horn for classes and stage bands and a mid-tier Bach trumpet for marching. This mouthpiece fits both perfectly and she uses for both applications. She loves it enough to recommend to all of the other players in the bands she is in.

The mouthpiece just feels good on the lips. The sound is awesome and it does help me play notes in the higher register much more cleaner and better sounding. I love playing with this mouthpiece. I had been playing a schilke 14a4a and sometimes a jetone but this one for me is a much better fit.

If you've EVER struggled with nailing a high C, (and be honest, this applies to all trumpet players), then just buy this mouthpiece. Problem solved. Never mind all the YouTubes do gooders out there. Their advice is good, but they aren't a mouthpiece. It's the simple science behind this think that does the trick. How? 1. Reduce the effective surface area of your embrasure with a smaller cup diameter, (smaller stuff vibrates faster); 2. Reduce the volume in that cup by making it shallower (high notes need fast molecules, not more molecules); and 3. Increase the velocity of the air traveling through the throat of the mouthpiece (with the help of Giovanni Battista Venturi's discovery). All of this sends a nice, new high "C" down the backbone, with very little effort from you. It's science, kids. That's all it is. I know it's a lot to pay for a hunk of metal, but now you can make "C notes" forever. As many as you want. Your neighbors still may not like you much, but on that note, they will like you better.

The mouthpiece is very good for high range playing for achieving loud volume. i recommend it for anybody who has been playing for a long time who is ready to extend their upper range. good for lead trumpets in marching band or jazz band. has good tone in high and lower ranges. not too sharp on the lips and is keeps endurance for long high range playing.

Nice mouthpiece, helps with high notes. But, it does take time to get used to playing on it. Shallow cup

I never write Amazon reviews, but this mouthpiece is amazing and is a massive game changer. Prior to this, I was using a cheap $8 mouthpiece because I sought out the cheapest I could find, but when I’ve learned that when it comes to the trumpet, quality matters, and this mouthpiece does it justice. I’ve been able to hit high notes with little to no effort, and this mouthpiece suits my small lips quite well.

This mouthpiece is a great way to do two things: 1.) Extend your upper range. I was quite surprised. I have been playing trumpet for a long time. Never been able to get above the E flat above the staff. With this mouthpiece, I am able to hit the A natural above that. Does it sound immediately great? No. But I can hit it. More importantly 2.) I can play up high with control for extended periods of time. It keeps me from being fatigued in the upper register. As far as sound quality: way more harsh or shrill than my Bach 3c. Low range, at least for me, forget about it. But as a tool to help with high notes it's a winner.

Bigger inner rim than I expected. I use a Yamaha 13a4a and thought this might work,it didn't fore.

Excellent mouthpiece!

Great addition to my mouthpiece collection. Takes some practice to get the slotting right as this makes it quite easy in the upper register. Tone is pretty awful as you'd expect in the lower range, but this bad boy is all about the screaming - I can finally hit a super G with this!

Product came promptly and was well packed. New and shiny, no scratches or other damage. This mouthpiece really helped me to reach higher notes. When I tire, I go back to my old mouthpiece which is a Bach 7c. which is more forgiving. Very happy with the product.
