VA1653 16 Inch 1080p Portable Monitor, FHD IPS External Screen

I needed a second monitor at work because the old Dell I brought in won't connect to the new Asus all in one computer. I did not get the fancy "touch screen" type, just the regular version. I haven't taken this to work yet, but I've tested it out here at home on both my newer laptop and older-than-dirt PC. It was instantly detected and worked beautifully right from the start on both. I'm a little surprised that the manual it comes with it says nothing about anything. I guess that means it will just turn on when I plug it in (which it did), and will go off when I unplug it (which it also did). But there's apparently a battery in the thing, which means it has to charge somehow. If you're not using the USB C to USB C that comes with it, I'm not sure how you're supposed to charge it. I've gone ahead and purchased a USB C to USB 3.0 so I can plug it into my extended USB ported power bank. I'm hoping that will work as the ports on the work computer are full. Never ending drama. LOL Anyhoo, size is excellent, weight is almost non-existent it's so light. Picture is pretty darned good considering it looks exactly like the picture on my MSI gaming laptop. I'll have to update this review after I get it to work, but for now, I'm loving it!

Light and portable. Easy to transport

I like this portable monitor overall. The screen resolution is solid for productivity tasks like documents, spreadsheets, and general work, and it performs well as a second monitor while working on the go. I wouldn’t recommend it for media consumption — colors and contrast are fine for work, but not something I’d choose for movies or entertainment. The built-in speakers work, but they wouldn’t be my first choice for audio. One small drawback is that I wish the USB-C cable were a bit longer, though it still works fine for my setup. Overall, it’s a reliable, portable second monitor that does exactly what I need for mobile productivity.

Great product I use it with my laptop when I work from home.

For the price and the image it produces no complaints, great for viewing documents on pdf. I don’t know about using it for games or high quality 4k video. The color range maybe limited but it’s fine for work pdf viewing and standard imaging. Great deal for what you get.

When I first opened the Amazon box I had a sense of dread because the seal on the box containing the monitor was cut open. Sure enough the cables were missing. I hooked the monitor up using my cables and all I got was a “no signal” from the monitor. Obviously this was a returned item. I immediately requested a replacement but after three days I was still getting “We will give a delivery date as soon as item is shipped” even though there were monitors in stock and the first monitor was shipped to me overnight. I didn’t want to wait any longer and after reading several reviews, I decided to cancel the replacement. I did not see any signs a refund was being processed so I had to chat with customer service to get the issue resolved. From what I saw of the defective monitor, it looked and felt cheap. I am not surprised it was DOA. It was no bargain, you got what you paid for. Since I did not see the monitor actually working I cannot comment any further on its quality but I would suspect I would not have been happy. If you purchase this monitor, put it through its paces to make sure it doesn’t die on you before the return period.

Easy to use and perfect size for a smaller desk/table.

Been using this portable monitor with a mini PC running Windows 11 for about a month now. I’ve started to experience intermittent screen flickering, but I’m not sure yet if that’s an issue with the included USB-C cable or certain screen resolution/display settings. It’s infrequent enough that I’m not yet concerned for the monitor’s longevity — but I’ll be keeping tabs until my return window is closing. I tend to toggle between the presets Standard, FPS, and Web for most of my usage. The few games I play (nothing very heavy, just digital board games) and videos I stream look excellent, though the built-in speakers are DIRE, even when maxed-out. External speakers or headphones are a must if one plans to do any media consumption through this monitor. As a portable workstation it’s fabulous. Exactly what I wanted. I’d be happier if a variety of cables had been included in the box; the included cable is a bit stiff for my setup, but it serves its purposes nicely. The included documentation could be more helpful — even the full manual offered online doesn’t seem to quite know which device it’s describing. The monitor’s on-screen menus are a bit fiddly to control with just one small “joy button”, but you get used to it for for how little you might actually want to access those settings.

Really like how portable this monitor is and that it works off the USB C port on my work laptop. The resolution at 1080p means I have to do some scrolling with our internal apps, but it works well and two monitors are still better than one. Some might prefer a higher refresh rate for day to day work and a bit more crispness for text. For the price and specs however I cannot find much to complain about. I also have been using it in Eco mode since it spends a lot of time being powered by the laptop on battery.

Great! Exactly what I was looking for, for my small server room. Light as a feather and thin, works as expected and makes it much easier to connect to the computer I need in a small space.

This is my 2nd monitor and had to return the first one due to compatibility Monitor is fine. Connected right away with my computer like a breeze. One star missing due to no hdmi cable provided, too bad
