I use this as a base for my custom succulent soil mix, and it works really well. The soil looks clean and is easy to handle and blend with other materials. With a few small tweaks, it's great for growing succulents and cacti.

I used the Back to The Roots 100% Organic Succulent & Cacti Mix for my African Milk Plant and a few of my smaller cacti, and it has worked beautifully so far. The texture is exactly what you want in a cactus mix. It’s light, gritty, and well draining without feeling dusty or overly chunky. Water flows through easily, which is crucial for succulents that hate sitting in soggy soil. Since repotting, my African Milk Plant has stayed firm and happy with no signs of root rot or stress. I also appreciate that it’s organic. It gives me peace of mind knowing I’m not adding unnecessary chemicals to my plants, especially when I keep some indoors. I thought this was good potting mix for my succulents, but there were some big pieces of wood and some pieces of sticks that I had to pull out. (Not a big deal, but noteworthy.) Overall, I was satisfied with it. I was amazed at quickly it arrived! There is enough here to last me a long time, and if I ever run out, I'll definitely buy again.

I’ve lost more succulents than I care to admit to "universal" potting soils that stay damp for way too long. I bought this bag to repot my growing collection of echeveria and a stubborn jade plant and the difference in texture is immediately obvious. It’s gritty, airy and doesn't clump into a wet sponge when you water it. This is good succulent soil. I put my aloe vera plants in it and they made some new ones. I was pleasantly surprised because I am not very good with plants.
