## Description

North Mountain Supply #9 Premium Natural Agglomerated Corks 15/16" x 1 3/4". Finish your wine-bottling fun with the corks you need to bottle and store your delicious wine. These all-natural wine bottle corks are some of the best sold online, high-quality and chamfered (beveled). All-natural wine bottle corks premium agglomerated corks made from uniform shavings and unused portions of cork, mixed with appropriate food grade glue to form a dense, well-made closure. Chamfered and printed with a decorative grape leaf pattern best inserted with a floor or bench corker and compressing iris. Note: #9 corks feature a larger diameter than #8 corks, not recommended for use with plastic plunger-type corker bag of 100 corks.

Review: This composite cork is ok if the wine is used in less than 3 months Here’s what happens. Bottle your red wine. Store it horizontally. The wine begins to permeate the cork. It goes unnoticed for about 3 months. At 6 months you can begin to see the darkness in the cork. I did nothing. At 12 months I test opened a bottle with an ordinary common cork screw. The cork broke as seen in the photo. What you see is the top 75% of the cork. 25% of the cork stayed in the bottle. It’s still in the empty bottle. The wine has been poured onto the lawn. Ok seems very bad, but. You could stand your bottles up at 3 months. The cork will not, maybe, dry out as it is permeated with wine. So this composite cork, very inexpensive might work. For me, having, now, poured out many bottles onto the lawn will buy a solid cork made of one piece, not composed of tiny pieces. Lesson learned. When folks say “experience counts” I get it. Also “you get what you pay for”.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long are these rated to age with?**
A: I don’t know that these are rated.  In general this grade of cork is considered fine for aging 2-3years.  That being said I just opened a 7 year old bottle of cranberry that had this grade of cork and it was fine

**Q: Can you use these for sparkling wines?**
A: I used them on sparkling mead. It was my first attempt. Had I known better, I would have bled off some of the carbonation. As it was all 8 bottles popped the cork! Live and learn.

**Q: Will these fit your 375 ml frosted wine bottles?**
A: Contact the bottle seller.  375ml bottles sometimes have different sized openings.

**Q: Will these corks go bad if the bag is opened?**
A: They will not.
However, I put them in a gallon ziplock bag once I open the package
just to keep them at their best.

The corks are correct, but they were definitely stored in a musty cellar because they came smelling of mold. I don't see any visible damage, and the corks in my cellar very likely have suffered the same effect, so I will use them. But, I just thought it worth mentioning. Still a good product. EDIT: I changed my review to a 5 star - the outer bag had the musty smell but the corks themselves were protected and smelled\worked fine. Perfect product if you are using a floor corker with the 750ml bottles for wine!
