DONT OPEN INSIDE (formaldehyde caution!)
People talked about a smell, it’s there open it outside!! because it smells like formaldehyde and freshwater algae. And water rinse the oyster for 15mins before to remove the formaldehyde But on that note; Pretty good pearls and shells, they’re Pearls appearance is good in low light, but in sunlight you can see white marks on it, more like craft pearls. the oyster is about a year and a half old based off the pearl thickness 5-7 mm, with a nice mother of pearl shell thickness of 4-10mm. Durable and nicely shaped for a jewelry shell tray, which is why I got it, yes it’s slightly dull but it’s dried out from washing all the formaldehyde away.

Beautiful
I almost forgot I had this . I found it today hidden in the kitchen lol. My 9 year old daughter wasn't too interested. But i thought it was cool. You don't get to open oysters with real pearls in them every day. Once i rinsed them and the shell they look pretty. I did it outside just in case it smelled when opening the plastic. It didn't smell hardly at all. There were some hints of the ocean smell but that's to be expected lol Very cool. Thank you for giving people the opportunity to open of these.

DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE
This was a total disappointment, some of the pearls aren't even the size if a pin head and there was only 18 "pearls" in the shell. Also, it smelled terrible and made my husband sick. DO NOT ORDER THIS ITEM!! Not as described and not worth it. I was only offered a replacement, I would have ordered another pack of Edison pearls that were totally fine if given an option.

Fun and satisfying to open
The pearls were of decent size and while a few were lightly stuck to the shell they popped right off. The lustre wasn't the greatest and only a handful seem like they would make good jewelry. A faint smell of formaldehyde but no serious odor. The shell is also a decent size and will make a nice jewelry dish. Overall it was a fun experience but don't expect to get high quality pearls.

More than satisfied - fun!
Purchased this with the intentions of making jewelry for my partner and family. I had read that there was a smell when first opening the package -- I found this to be slightly true but it wasn't overwhelming and went away once I rinsed off the oyster and pearls and discarded the insides. The oyster was difficult to open and requires a tool such as a screwdriver or butter knife. It helps to slide whichever tool inside and slowly run along the inside edge to not crack the shell when opening. I had to search through the inside of the shell and remove the pearls from a soft film that was holding some in place. We received 23 pearls in total. Once all cleaned I noticed that there are about 3 different shades ranging from soft pink to a soft purple. They are also not perfectly round and different sizes but beautiful non the less.

Fun for kids to learn how pearls are made. The pearls? Meh.
Bought 2. Had approx 50+ total tiny pearls from 2mm-7mm. Mostly 3-4mm. Oysters appeared mostly fresh. Non-smelly. Young people will need adult supervision while opening oysters.

Great activity with my 5yr old
What a great activity with my 5 year old son! This is any authentic oyster with pearls that’s great for kids. It hasn’t been doctored in any way. The pearls in there are real pearls produced by the oyster you’re opening. My son has been watching a lot of oyster opening videos and in general he’s interested in anything from the sea so this was a perfect gift for him. It didn’t smell at all and we may have gotten lucky on that. He found 21 pearls and was so happy. Pearls are not the greatest quality (didn’t expect it to be), but it’s sufficient for my son who had a blast picking them out of the oyster meat. Well worth the money and also a great party activity for mermaid or sea themes.

Easy and fun!
I bought 2 of these (one from a different company, just in case) and it was GREAT. I shucked them with my kids this morning. Minimal odor (there's a bit of a funk, but it's a dead sea creature. Not overwhelming, and I think I'm the only person in the house that could smell it anyway), fairly easy to crack open with the judicious use of a butter knife, and my kids had a great time popping the pearls out! They're equally excited about the beauty of the shells. A fabulous activity experience.

pretty cool
bought this cause of all the tiktok lives lol. was really fun to open. got it open pretty easily. felt like I was one of them on tiktok for a minute and got the pearls out like a pro who spends too much time watching pearl opening. one side had pretty good sized pearls, other side were pretty small. super cool anyway.

Super chouette
Très chouette expérience pour mon petit fils qui en rêvait depuis longtemps. Il faut bien rincer le coquillage au déballage car forcément ça sent mauvais. Les perles sont petites mains il y en a pas mal. Ça lui a plu c'est le principal
