Does it really float on the surface or will it gradually start sinking down to the bottom of the aquarium?

Only floats partially. That is, when you drop the food in it floats, but if the Betta swims close to the pellets, the motion will cause the pellets to sink. That's a bummer. It should stay afloat all the time.

Are there any insects in the food? the natural recipe graphic lists “insects”, but the ingredient list doesn’t list any.

If you try giving this to your fish, you will end up coming back for more.

I don't know what is in this fish food but every time I serve this to my betta it goes crazy for it. I have also given some to my goldfish and I get the same response from them; they just love the thing. I have not gotten a similar response from other foods. the size is perfect for my betta; the texture is solid and stays afloat for a nice period. My pets just prefer this over other foods, and it clearly shows that they just enjoy eating this. Great value for the money.
