Best Cat Food
I bought this because my two year old cat started having urinary issues, even after switching to the prescription cat food my vet put him on (first he had crystals in his urine, then bladder inflammation resulting in a mucus plug blocking his urine. Ugh). I considered putting him on a raw diet, but was a little freaked about the salmonella recalls raw food companies seem to frequent. I did tons of research and found Ziwi, and it really seems to be the best out there. The ingredients are unbeatable. And though I haven't seen any bone chunks, YES, there's bone it. Cats eat bones in the wild. It's good for them. He's only been eating this for two weeks, so I can't comment on if it'll help his pee problems yet, but I will say he LOVES this stuff. He's not a picky cat, so he does love most food, but he seems to especially like this stuff. I feed him one 6.5 oz can a day plus a little of the prescription dry kibble from the vet (he's a 12 pounder). It is expensive, but so worth it because 1. Hopefully it'll help avoid costly vet bills and 2. You wouldn't feed your kids only McDonald's just because it's cheaper. When I adopted my cat I did so to give him a good, healthy life. I'll update in a few months if he's avoided anymore urinary issues!

Well above average canned cat food with high quality ingredients..
I feed this canned food as part of a very old Tibetan Spaniel's rotation diet along with the mostly non-fish based Tiki brand canned foods. She is 17 and likes/tolerates very few commercial or homemade foods. This she eats fairly well, though she does prefer the broth and shredded meat Tiki formulas to pates. I like her to eat ZiwiPeak as well because of the higher levels of organ meats, something lacking in most of the Tiki formulas except their "After Dark" line. Ziwi's ingredient lists are sometimes inconsistent, on some agar agar is listed and sometimes chick peas. Other lists don't have either. My current case doesn't list taurine among the ingredients, possibly an oversight in the printing, not vital for a dog, and my cats don't get it as an exclusive diet (their main foods are frozen mice, chicks, and quail supplemented with some canned and freeze dried raw). All in all the brand seems very high quality and unlike Tiki relies on food ingredients more than supplements. Premium ingredients naturally at a premium price. Worth it in my opinion. Update- According to the manufacturer there is more than enough naturally occurring taurine in the food due to the high meat and organ content. This makes sense and explains why it is not listed as a supplement. Most cat foods require supplemental taurine due to borderline (or virtual lack of) meat/organ ingredients.

Like a snack
this seems to be pretty good quality and my cat likes the flavor. Major problem is that it grounded very fine and the cat does not have anything to chew. Naturally it passes through the cat’s system quickly and the cat needs to eat a lot of it to stop feeling hungry. My cat gained a lot of weight on this food.

Best Food on the market
My cat Sassy is 17 years old, she is allergic to chicken and fish, it’s been so difficult to find a food that doesn’t have some form of chicken or fish in it, way down the ingredient label. I was a little nervous about lamb as she would throw up a raw lamb food I tried to transition her on, but this she loves this and she’s transitioned beautifully on it. I love that that there is no junk in it, can is bpa free, it’s a little expensive but I find she doesn’t eat as much because it’s so pure? She also loves the venison, I’ve always had her on a high quality food, since I adopted her at age 5, she was on Hills KD because her vet said her kidney levels were on the high end of normal! I immediately took her off and transitioned to a high quality canned food and raw food, and she thrived, healthier coat etc.. but at 17, I’m actually seeing an even healthier coat, a gorgeous gold, that is typical of bengals, it’s amazing. I’m so happy and she’s very happy.

Would be 5 stars but draws gnats
My cat loves this, and I’ve had very good results with it all the way around, but I am giving four stars versus five because there is something in the ingredients of this that has these odd little gnats coming around to the bowl. I’ve had wet cat food do that before but not for a really long time and I think it was the really cheap food so I was pretty surprised by this. But I just can’t stand it anymore so I’m switching to something else for her. if that might not happen at your house or won’t bother you then I would say go for this. She has irritable bowel and has a chicken allergy that affects her skin in a horrible way. Her skin has been great and she has not been throwing up on this food from her irritable bowel. Like I say, she eats it like a champ. I’m a little sad we’re switching but can’t deal with those gnats.

Good quality, palatable
One of my cats was hospitalized for a week, and after many tests, no cause was found. They suspected irritable bowel disease and suggested feeding her a novel protein. Since we had 4 cats (one of which was diabetic), all 14+ years old, there were not a lot of proteins they had not tried before. Ziwi Peak was one of the only novel, single protein foods I saw. All three of our cats like this food, although we only give it regularly to the one who was sick previously since this brand is so much more expensive. The foods seems like good quality and does not include a lot of fillers. It includes bone and organs, which is much closer to what they would eat in the wild. My only complaint is the price, but if you want quality, you have to pay for it.... If it wasn't for the fact that we have 3 cats now, and they've been healthy and happy eating their "cheap" food all these years, I'd switch them all to this.

Not what it used to be
A warning for any pet owner, particularly cats, whose little babies are suffering from bloated bellies, constipation, or diarrhea and are eating Ziwi, immediately take them off it. Ziwi used to be a good brand until they sold it and the ingredients started to change. My cats were experiencing all these symptoms when eating Ziwi and it went away when we started giving them Feline Naturals, which I from New Zealand. For example, Ziwi started putting chickpeas in the food and it’s the 6th ingredient in there. That means they have a lot in the recipe, and I’m not sure if you notice how bloated humans can get after eating chickpeas, imagine what a cat feels? Also, if your cat if suffering from constipation, ground up bones make it worse. DL-Methionine which is synthetic. Methionine is found naturally in fish and animal meat, but DL-Methionine is synthetic. Thiamine Mononitrate is listed in the ingredients and that is a synthetic form of vitamin B1. In summary, Ziwi used to be good. From the ingredients changing and my cats having a reaction to it, the cases of food started to show up with dents or the food smelled and looked spoiled. I don’t recommend Ziwi anymore which is unfortunate. I switched my cats to Feline Naturals and they love it.

Approved by my IBD Manx, Kenzi Wenzikins
I have a rumpy manx with Manx syndrome and IBD and this is one of the only wet foods she can eat without getting diarrhea. I’ve been giving it to her for 3 years and the only complaint I have is when the manufacturers are completely out and it’s on back order. Luckily, I’m able to also give her Feline Natural lamb or Meat Mates lamb but out of the 3 brands, 2 of them will be out of stock and on back order at every given time. It can be really frustrating since there aren’t any other options except making her food from scratch, which is a giant pain in the butt and I haven’t been able to figure out how to do it even with 20+ hours of research. I did try but Kenzi Wenzikins did not like my efforts. 😾😟 I really wish I knew the recipe for when they’re completely out. When the consequence for not being available is bloody, fecal incontinence and diarrhea, you would think the manufacturers could give us an alternative other than not eating at all. We’ve even tried Prescription cat diets for IBD and they still caused non-stop bloody diarrhea (IBD prescription diets are filled with gums and other ingredients that most cats with IBD are intolerant to, it’s senseless really but you only need to research their manufacturers to see why they’re complete crap).

Pricey but enjoyed by cat
Bought this as something to trial on rotation and it got a very positive response consistently over several meals. The ingredients list is longer than I would like and has quite a few chlorines on the list. I’m not well researched enough to know if this is harmless or beneficial but generally I would prefer more natural ingredients on the list (entirely possible with other premium brands). Especially as this brand seems to pitch it’s brand as natural and premium. Like the inclusion of green lipped mussels in the food. I’m not sure if this is what makes it expensive but it has been given in powdered form before with other food and certainly is enjoyed.

My cat goes crazy for this!
My senior cat went crazy for this even before we opened the can! He can be a picky eater but not with this. I’ll be trying other flavours soon. Sure, it’s pricier than Friskies, but it’s a better value with a picky eater because there’s no waste.
