Is the buckle nickel free?

NO!!! I bought it as others said it was and it DEFINITELY isn’t!!!

Can you put a different buckle on this belt?

You could if you could find another buckle of a similar design. The buckle is held in place with a screw that can be undone to allow the belt to be cut to length. If you don't like the supplied buckle, I would order a different belt, as the buckle is a costly item and there is no point replacing it.

Is the buckle exquisite?

Not quite sure what "exquisite" means in relation to a leather belt! The moveable pin which goes thr ough the hole in the belt does have some play which might make it difficult to use if you can't see that part of your belt or else you may need a mirror!
