I researched several bags before pulling the plug and investing in this one. BEST INVESTMENT EVER!! I love it. Don't be fooled by the size, looks small but fits so much stuff (especially if you use packing cubes), is very organized, lightweight, great zippers, looks stylish, travels wells (fits perfectly under plane seats). I love the mini pouches for accessories (they look deceptively small but holds all my charging stuff - watch, phone, computer charger and some more), and toiletries (holds all my daily makeup stuff). I also like that when Im traveling I can access my electronics or toiletries without opening the whole bag. The front pocket is great for easy access to things like wallet, kindle, keys, lipstick and small stuff. We use it extensively and it has held up well so far. Color is beautiful too. I wish it had wheels sometimes because it can get heavy to carry when fully packed, that is my only critique. However, it has a back sleeve and can easily sit on a carry on. The thing is I don't need a carry on when I have this perfect bag for short trips, it's that great ;) so double edge sword on that one. Usually I just pack it on my carry on for flights. Don't need any checked in luggage after that. All in all, I love it. It has quickly become my go to bag. I recommend it to everyone I know. Go for it! You'll love it too!!!

This bag is sized to fit under the seat in front of you, if you are attempting to not check a bag it counts as your personal item and slips over your carryon suitcase handle. It comes with a padded shoulder strap, which fits into an elastic band in the bottom of the largest section (when not in use, so you don't lose it). My favorite feature of the bag is that it opens out fully like a clamshell for easy packing. The bag is clearly designed for easy access during a flight, with nearly every section directly accessible from the outside. The zippers are quality and easy to move. The vendor says the sleeve is for a 16" laptop, but I was able to fit a 17" macbook pro in the large section and a 16" macbook air into the small padded section (both at the same time). I really appreciate that this bag uses a velcro strap to hold the laptop(s) in place for this versatility (rather than a zipper like the similar but slightly larger July "split weekender"). I wish there were one interior-only zipped mesh section for small items, and that the bag were overall a little lighter weight but otherwise this bag is just perfect. For those of you going on an international trip where they actually weigh your personal item: The bag without the accessories is 2lb, 8 oz. The bag with the accessories is 3lb, 6 oz. The accessories (shoulder strap, toiletry packing cube, cords packing cube) weigh 11 oz combined. (toiletries bag is 2.5oz, cords bag is 2.8oz, combined bags is 5.3oz) (For reference, a gallon ziplock bag is 0.4 oz) Shoulder strap alone is 5.7oz. If you're looking for metric, the accessories are 314g total, bag without accessories is 1.265 Kg, with accessories is 1.58 kg. Southwest airlines dimension is the only US airline I could find where this bag wouldn't technically count as a personal item (their limit is 16.25 x 13.5 x 8 inches, and this bag is 17.5in x 10.5in x 8in). The bag can be squished down to 17 x 10 x 8in so I guess that's where the Nomad vendor measurements come from? Currently US airlines are not enforcing the size of personal items but I have heard that's coming soon, and also I personally find it very frustrating when my personal item won't fit under the seat in front of me so felt it was time to find something smaller. After decades of using a leather backpack for personal carry-on item on trips, switched to this Nomad Lane Bag. It's a winner and excellent for travel. It caries my computer , working papers, a change of clothes, bag with all cords, chargers, and adapters for different countries, in one zipper pocket, 2 wallets, mobile phone, and passport passport in another pocket, pens, small flashlight, extra eating plastic utensils, small bags of snacks and hand sanitizer in one area,, bag for medicine, ointments, noise cancelling headphones, and toiletry bag in another area - all without duffel being overstuffed. Like that it can slip over roller suitcase for ease of transport. Fits easily under seat and appears to be very durable. In last two months it has been to four countries on about 13 flights - and looks as good as the day it arrived. Highly recommend this really good looking and functional bag.

This bag is lovely. The color is beautiful . It's a present for my mom, who is going to Hawaii for the first time. She is going to love it. I got it as her "personal item' bag for the plane. There is enough room for her medication and electronics, emergency clothes, and at least some snack food. for the flight.
