Background: I purchased this item as a backup in case the power is out or gas is shut off. I also thought it'd be helpful for camping, home renovations, washing vehicles, and pets, etc.Setup: Gasland is a good vendor and gives you everything you need. All items are included except for the two D batteries. The unit has many mounting holes available and they include some drywall and masonry anchors too. Similar to other people on here I installed mine onto a hand truck so I'd be able to move it around easily. First I connected the propane hose, carefully using two wrenches as instructed to avoid rotating the pre-attached brass gas line adapter. Then I inserted the rubber washer into the garden hose adapter and tightened and attached my garden hose. They included two adapters so you can use either side of the garden hose (male or female). I didn't have any issues with leaks and found the threads/fittings to seal up okay without needing any Teflon tape (included also!). I was careful to support the connections while I tightened them.Operation: It turns on automatically once the water is flowing so you can set it to the desired temperature and not worry about having to shut it off. There's a left dial for the gas volume, a middle dial for the number of burners (summer/winter), and a right dial for the water flow. The display shows the current temperature in Celcius. I found the best results with the summer mode, water at the lowest setting and gas adjusted until the temp became 40-45C. It has the capacity to go significantly hotter, it is barely turned up to 1/3 on the gas right now.Conclusion: It works really well, to say the least. The temperature is very stable and it does not consume much propane while it is running. Once set, it doesn't need additional adjustments. I am impressed, especially for the price. The showerhead itself is also good, creating a nice misty stream, and the built-in valve is convenient to control the water. I had an issue with the provided chrome shower hose leaking, but Gasland was able to take care of it quickly. If you plan on using the provided shower hose, keep in mind it may need to be replaced eventually. I ended up replacing the hose with standard 3/8 OD polyethylene and some of the parts off of the old hose. One thing I didn't know is that the top does not fit a standard 4" flue pipe, so effective exhaust gas removal is not easy. Make sure it runs outside and avoid standing close to the gases. Otherwise, this is a great product for the price!

Though we are keeping it for emergency use only, I set it up to test it. I wanted to see how well it worked, so if we needed it, I knew it functioned. We have on demand propane water heater for the house we built ten years ago, and I always worry that it will break and it might take weeks to get a plumber to replace it at a reasonable price. I found this unit and spent the smaller amount of money so we'd have hot showers until the unit gets replaced. Almost everything in the house, we use cold water. We live in Hawaii and have an outdoor shower, so it is easy for us to hang it and use it. We also have the option of adding hose to the shower head and threading it through a window to use our inside shower. I am also thinking about splicing into the water line to our indoor shower with a valve so we can use it that way. My wife is a bit of a prepper, so she likes having options.the unit works well. Hook up a propane source, a water source, and put a couple of batteries in the unit. Turn on the tap and a few seconds later you have a hot shower. There were no leaks, externally or internally. All of the adapters you might need for connections are in the box. I would not call it very portable, because it is a bit bulky and you have to carry all of the hoses and the propane tank. For our emergency plan, this will work very well.

After reading lots of reviews thoughts this would be the perfect unit for an outdoor shower. Install was easy once you have the right fittings and unit fires right up. Issue is, water is luke-warm at best. Highest temperature at lowest water volume (using know on unit for volume adjustment) and on highest Temperature setting, is 92F. If we leave water in a long hose, in the sun, and then start the unit, we can get to 102F. The Winter/Spring knob makes no change in water temperature. Started and left unit running, Temp was 84F on Spring setting. Turned unit off, moved to Winter setting, let it run, Temp was 84F. Moving from lowest water volume to any higher setting simply turns water cold even though unit is still running. If you are ok with luke-warm, not strong showers, or maybe if your water already comes out of your taps warm, this might work for you. Return window just closed so guess I am stuck with luke-warm showers unit I get another unit from another vendor. Luckily not too expensive, but I guess you get what you paid for.Update: 0/12/2026: Dropping to one star. Unit no longer capable of pushing water to 95F even with water set to lowest level. Unit marginal from beginning, and now useless. Drained and stored inside every season. If you like being frustrated, buy this unit.

So let's get this out of the way for the people that are viewing this and have no idea if it may or may not work. It does work, and it works wonderfully.Specifically I went ahead and bought the model that comes with the LED temp reading which I need to emphasize is in Celsius not Fahrenheit. Not a big deal once you Google how to convert between C to F so whatever. Frankly the readout is necessary otherwise you'll be relying on feeling alone. The hot water this puts out is just jaw dropping, we set it on the "Winter" setting on the upper-middle Dial and with just halfway up the gas and the water pressure dial at full (all the way to the left) it will easily put out hot water at 44 Celsius (Roughly 111 Degrees Fahrenheit) which is my ideal temperature for taking a shower but a more consistent temperature of 42 celsius (107 Fahrenheit) seems to be the norm for this heater. It'll all depend on the temp of your incoming water and how high you have your gas dial set. Where I've set it up, I draw water from a standard Garden Hose faucet with water coming out at about 56-57 Degrees Fahrenheit and it will heat up that water immediately in about 10 seconds or so. I hang it up via the handle bar thing included on it and it seems stable so far, the mounting kit that's included is only for wood and in my case it's near a concrete wall but it'll work just fine if you use the included hardware kit. Speaking of the accessories, the hose included for the shower head is FLIMSY as all, I'm still using it but it'll break eventually especially if you move the hose around much. It's also rather short so careful where you mount the heater unit it since there isn't much length on that hose. I ordered a nice long one off of amazon here for 10 bucks or so that is much sturdier and will replace it with that once I get the chance but in my case I mounted everything close by so it works just fine for now. The shower head itself is fine, it's all plastic and the push button may be hard for some people but I have no real complaints, maybe I'll replace it with something better but I'll have to research what works with the heater. The brass adapters included seemed well made and I have no complaints on that end. And the gas line to hook up to a propane tank seems well built but the regulator itself feels plasticky. I'm using it right now since it works but I'll replace that with something sturdier down the line. The kit also comes with some wrenches and oh boy did they cheap out on that. They simply don't work, period. It seems like a 9 year old cut these out of sheet metal (and that might not be far from the truth) and they were useless. Luckily I had some adjustable wrenches otherwise I'd be out of luck.I should note that I set this up for a place in Tijuana, Mexico so if you are from there or plan to use it there it'll work just fine with some caveats so keep reading. If you are using this for USA applications everything is plug and play, sort of.So my setup:-Standard 5/8" hose from Home Depot. There's a bigger 1/2" hose adapter included but I have no idea why you would need a hose with such a huge diameter. Whatever.-Female to Female 5/8" adapter from Home Depot. This connects to the Garden Hose Faucet into the hose itself, you'll need it. It's about 3 bucks so just get it or order it from Amazon, your choice. You WILL NEED IT.-An adjustable wrench or some standard wrenches. So I'm not sure what the diameter is on the included adapters for the inlets and outlets, I just used two pairs of adjustable wrenches to tighten everything down. Use one wrench to hold on to the brass fittings itself and the other one to tighten everything down as not to damage anything. Common sense will take you a long way.-Teflon tape. The kit with the heater came with some already but An extra roll is cheap and never hurts. I ended up needing it since I suck at installing things like this. Note that teflon tape isn't sticky so you'll need a pair of steady hands.-D Cell batteries. Got these at home depot too, some standard Energizer ones for $8 bucks because I'm a genius and should have just ordered them here on Amazon. Oh well. I should note that the battery cover on the heater unit itself do in fact have the provided positive and negative indicators when you open the cover up but since they are part of the white plastic they are hard to see. I used a bright LED flashlight to take a good look, they are there.So Garden hose on the inlet with the provided 5/8" adapter for the unit itself, DO NOT FORGET TO INSTALL THE INCLUDED RUBBER GASKET or everything will leak. The gasket will go inside the adapter and that screws into the inlet on the unit itself, put teflon tape on every part that has threads, Teflon tape on the pipe on the unit itself, more Teflon tape on the threads on the adapter. Make sure whatever garden hose you use has a rubber gasket on the female ends as well to avoid leaks, if you don't have one, home depot sells a kit of gaskets for standard 5/8" hose for 5 bucks or so. The hose I bought already had one but just letting you guys know.The hose for the shower (the hot water outlet) is 1/2"? Whatever, it's small, so put Teflon tape on the threads on the unit itself and screw the included hose onto that, then take the other end with the bell cover and just gently screw it onto the shower head, I didn't use teflon tape on the plastic thread for the shower head itself and It doesn't seem to leak.The next important part is obviously the gas line and for the love of all make sure to put teflon tape on the threads for the gas line on the unit self, DO NOT FORGET this or you will leak propane everywhere. Properly tighten this down then connect the other end to the propane tank you will use. Put teflon tape on that as well because safety. Once everything is hooked up get some soapy water and put it on the gas line ends, turn on the propane and turn on your water source, and check for leaks. Google a youtube video of this if have no idea what I'm talking about or how it will look like. Or get a fancy gas leak detector just in case, up to you.Once everything is up and running just press down on the shower head and you should hear the click click sound of the heater igniter going off and it should light up the gas. There's a small grill on the side of the unit where you can inspect the flame but it's pretty obvious when it gets going.And that should be it.There are three dials on this unit, the leftmost one is for how high you want the gas to go, the middle one is a "winter" and "summer" setting, probably to adjust how much gas is introduced into the heater I just set mine to winter and call it a day since it's cold anyway. The one on the right (the blue one) is for how much water is circulating into the unit. I leave this on all the way but the way you adjust temp is to first turn up the gas and then lower the water pressure on the right if you want the water to get hotter. This will lower the pressure of the water coming from the shower head. Mess around with it until you get it to what you want.So far it's been working great, no issues, the accessories are iffy but it works. If you are thinking twice about buying it I can say this one works fine.Extra notes:-I installed this in Tijuana, Mexico and for anyone wanting to use this unit in Mexico you need to know that the gas line included with the kit only works for newer style propane tanks in the USA, Mexico is still using an older connector variant for their gas vessels and it simply will not fit. I was able to completely replace the connector on mine but I would highly recommend finding a compatible gas regulator line in a Mexican home depot if you can get one. I would suggest you take the unit with you and test out different gas hoses. Not the fault of the product since it's not being used for its intended country. IIRC, gas containers in mexico have internal threads while tanks in the USA have external threads and some safety valves and such and they aren't compatible.-We turn of the water and gas after every use because, well, safety but there is one thing you should watch out for. We had a family member who turned on the water faucet but forgot to turn on the gas line on the propane tank itself. With the water on coming out of the shower head they then went to turn on the gas on the propane tank itself and of course, the gas didn't ignite because I assume it relies on the initial burst of water pressure to turn on the gas. We caught this idiocy in time but make sure you turn on both the gast and your water source on before turning it on or you'll get a fireball. Nothing happened on our end but just something to watch out for. Not sure if it leaked propane at all but better safe than sorry.I'll include some pictures later but boy oh boy was this purchase worth it.

This water heater worked great during our bathroom remodel. I put this outdoor shower together underneath the grape arbor. The digital temperature readout lets you adjust the hot water to perfection. The igniter works fine with two rechargeable "D" batteries. The shower head has three adjustable spray selections. So far it has been a reliable appliance.

Great customer service.The unit had a crack in the cast metal portion.Contacted customer service about the leak and they are currently sending a brand new unit to replace the broken unit.Installation is easy as can be. Hookups are easy to install.The water and temperature is easy to control and gives us optimal temperatures when showering.I will update on the how the replacement comes in for the warranty! So far so good on the customer care team.

It comes with a 3/4 or 1/2 in adapter for your garden hose and a fairly standard certified gas hose for your propane tank. It does come with a braided hose for your shower head that is also included however I highly recommend purchasing a much longer shower hose which is pretty standard .... It's the same shower hose you would put in your bathtub. And also I recommend getting a metal proper heavy duty shower wand . The one that's included with this product is rather cheap and plastic. The hose is really short as well.Quick tip is that you actually need to install the garden hose and have water going into the system in order for the propane to kick in and ignite. Otherwise it doesn't work. The ignitor is pretty quick and it uses two D cell batteries not included with the product.In terms of heat, it gets warm enough for a really nice shower outdoors for humans and even for a dog. That said it actually depends on the temperature of your garden hose water. If you are using this in the summer then I think you will have no issues getting the water hot enough for a decent shower however if you were attempting to use this in the winter I'm not sure that this will get hot enough. There is a dial for winter mode or summer mode but I highly recommend just switching it to winter mode permanently because it regulates the max heat of the water. Quite frankly I think any adult can figure out how to regulate the cold versus warm water mixedThere is some precautionary warnings here because when the unit is functioning there is hot air exhausted at the top of the heater. But that is fairly obvious when you feel heat as the unit is functioning. Obviously you do not want children putting their hand or head near that exhaust.So far so good. Single tank is ready to last 16 to 20 hours of heated water but obviously that depends on how hot you use the duration and output adjusted by you.I'm extremely happy with product. I hope that this will last more than a few seasons functioning. I plan to store this in my insulated shed in the winter and only bring it out when it's pool season in the summer. Hopefully with that fish should last quite a long time.I hope this helps.

We have an off-grid cabin, it has a kitchen sink, bathroom sink and shower. We have a submersible well pump that feeds a pressure tank with clear water and the pressure switch operates at 20 to 40 PSI. The setting knobs are at winter (input water temp. is still quite cold at this time), burner knob a bit past halfway and the water flow set at minimal.The water heater heats the water great while it's operating but unfortunately it keeps stopping and restarting after a small time lag which makes showering a real adventure.We just got it but there's a high probability that it will be returned.

Ça chauffe l’eau considérablement, même au 1/3 de la puissance.Note : un réservoir de propane de 20 lbs. donne 11-12 heures d’eau chaude.À considérer :- vient avec un connecteur propane pour un réservoir 20 lbs. classique (réservoir tout BBQ). Si besoin de connecter sur un réservoir 100 lbs. , il faut un adaptateur.- nous avons connecté à une douche existante au lieu du petit bras de douche “téléphone” - il faut prévoir des connecteurs supplémentaires non-inclus avec le kit.- ne pas oublier d’acheter 2 batteries D- une fois la configuration trouvée, c’est un système qu’on peut oublier complètement. Le chauffe-eau s’active automatiquement dès qu’il détecte un changement de pression d’eau (lorsqu’on ouvre l’eau chaude de la douche ou le lavabo), et se referme automatiquement dès qu’on ferme l’eau.- notre système d’eau fonctionne par gravité, environ 14 pieds de dénivelé. La pression est suffisante pour le système.

We set up this heater to warm our above ground inflatable pool. The instructions for set up were easy to follow. Good quality heater with no issues on the actual heater. There were no leaks. Very clean and safe looking. The only issue we had was that the water was not actually effective to heat the pool with such a large quantity of water. Would be very good for producing hot water when camping or something similar.
