Awesome
Incredible move by canon. I hope to see more internal powered zoom lenses. The only downsides of this camera are the hot shoe mount, lack of EVF and the low light. Photo wise, The hot shoe is a new multi function mount, meaning you cannot put any third party flashes on this camera. The lack of EVF makes it hard to do photography with this camera. For video, this little camera is a beast. There is no IBIS. Beginner friendly UI, fast Autofocus, decent battery life. The top selling point for this camera would absolutely be the 4k 60 with CLOG 3. Compared to the R50 and R100, this R50V has very smooth, usable 4k60. The others have a bad jello-effect wobble with the sensor readout. However, the 4K60 in this camera is a game changer. The CLOG3 alone makes this camera worth it. Design: very small, possibly too small for big hands. Very little grip. But I love the look of this camera. The front record button, the tally light, my gosh. This is like a mini FX3. Hey Canon, please keep going with the V series! More like this!!! Front record buttons! Tally lights! Build quality is okay, all plastic. It’s about as durable as the R50. My dream camera: all of this, square body like this, tally lights, slightly bigger, and an EVF with the universal hot shoe mount. Canon, please stop getting rid of the universal mounts.

Canon R50V Rocks!
I can't say enough how I love this camera! I'm an indie filmmaker and have made 2 feature films that have gone to streaming networks and this camera for the budget and what it can do, is great! The color grading with the RAW files is such a fantastic feature. I wish the battery compartment was located in a different spot because every time you put the camera on a tripod or steady cam and the battery dies you need to take it out, take the screw plate off and remount it.

Surprisingly Versatile 4k Mirrorless
I am a professional news videographer, and an avid still photographer. This means of course I own a lot of cameras. Most of them are rather large and while great to use for they are not easy to carry all the time. I almost purchased a standard EOS R 50 and then looked carefully at this. I wanted something I could shoot 4K with as well as quick stills. I am really pleased that I chose the V variant. Like any good mirrorless camera it can be as simple or as complicated to use as you want it to be. The build is tight and precise. Picture quality is what you expect from a sensor of this size which is pretty good. It shares the same battery with several other Canon mirrorless cameras (LP-E17) which is a big plus for me, I didn’t need to purchase extra ones. The ability to switch from horizontal to vertical quickly is another plus and the fun surprise is the motorized zoom lens! It’s a wide angle but functional length and Canon promises more versions to come. Easy to carry like I wanted and fun to use like I hoped. If you are a vlogger you will love it, and for overall quick and dirty shooting it’s a good choice as well. I do recommend it.

Okay for what it is but not for me.
I purchased this camera to use in a middle school classroom. I found the camera to have inadequate low light capability and significant noise at higher ISO readings. For comparison, I was using my Canon R6 Mark 1 as a basis. I felt my six year old camera was far superior. Admittedly, this may not be the fairest of comparisons. If you are moving up from an iPhone, I think this would be a good choice. If you are expecting better results full-frame results, you need to pay more or lower your expectations.

Great for Beginners
If you are thinking about moving up from an R100, I would recommend it. I originally purchased the R100 and returned it for this. It has a ton of more features, and the R50V's video capabilities are even more powerful than the regular R50 with 4K 60fps cropped or 30fps uncropped. You don't get a viewfinder, but the touch screen is versatile and I haven't had a problem using outdoors. Battery life is solid, also if using as webcam it stays powered thru USB-C. Very easy to switch camera modes in the menu even though there's only one image mode on the dial. The V body is more sleek, so putting a pancake lens on would make it very easy to travel with. You won't be disappointed!

I love the camera but have mixed feelings about the lenses for it.
Great camera for video. I wish Canon's lens offerings were a better match for the APS-C sensor. Unfortunately the smaller sensor converts lenses designed for full-frame cameras into a kind of tunnel vision where you're only using the center portion of the lens's field of view, so you have to do a mental conversion multiplying the listed focal length of each lens by 1.5 to get an approximation of how the lens will work using the smaller APS-C sensor. The APS-C sensor delivers great images, it's just too bad there isn't a line of lenses specifically designed for that sensor. Another annoyance about Canon's RF lenses is that only those with PZ in the name make use of the handy zoom button on this camera. Not all the RF lenses that fit this body and none of the EF lenses (via an adapter) allow power zoom from the camera control. This is especially frustrating for someone who is focused on video production.

PEQUENA E BRUTA
