If you struggle with stubborn orange/red and want ash, this will do it
I bought this kind of on a lark. I had bleached my hair to about a level 9 and was using wella t18 for the yellow and t14 for the more stubborn orange, and that was working well, but my hair was kind of a sandy color--like what they refer to as the natural blonde look. So, overall, it was fine, but I wanted an ashier look, so I ordered this. I mixed about two pea sized drops with 1oz toner to 2 oz 20 vol creme developer. This was waaaayyy too much of the ash intensifier. I apply with a brush, sectioning from bottom to top. By the time I got to my top layer of hair, the first hair to be covered was well on its way to silver. I finished applying, and normally take the time to clean my applicator brush and bowl, but the color change was very evident already, so I just rinsed (I did shampoo, to help remove some of the color) and was left with slate silver hair, with streaks that looked blue. I loved it, but definitely not what I was going for. Not too worried, since as with any toner or purple shampoo, easy enough to get excess pigment out. I used a conditioning treatment that night, then next day just used shampoo all over my hair instead of just the roots, repeated a few times, them used deep conditioner again. After rinsing, it was still pretty silver on the bottom layer of hair, but still not outrageous. About one week out, I just shampooed again, and all of the silver is out, but the tone is left quite ashy, so I am very happy with it. I will definitely keep using, but will use much more sparingly. This tube is tiny, but I think with how tiny amount of product is needed, it will likely last through a year, at least. So, definitely recommend, but use extremely frugally. If you think you have too little, take away half, and that is likely what you need. If you are a light blonde with long hair, I recommend using this in sections, rather than all over, since it works so quickly. All that said, if your hair is stubborn to brass tones, this will easily bring you into a cool tone, but it is going to be ashy, so it will darken your hair at least one level, so make sure your hair is lightened sufficiently prior to using.

This stuff is awesome! I added it in my blue black and got a beautiful navy blue, just what I was going for. If you're using for toning be careful because it's very vibrant. Wonderful stuff

Purple hair... do care ...
I read all the reviews and knew I should use sparingly .... which I thought I did lol I had bleached my hair and dyed it with Wella 8a permanent color but still had a strawberry blonde and I wanted to really fine tune it with some ash... I tried Wella t14 and it didnโt really work so I used Wella t28 and added 1/3 of the ash intensifier and my color came out a brown/purple color... eek... hopefully this washes out with a few washes! Use sparingly!!!! Oh and it doesnโt mix well like someone else mentioned....

If you are a Latino woman and want to add this to your ash blonde hair coloring box, just know that it will darken its LOTS if you use the whole thing, to get an ash shade and not dark it too much use a volume 30 with your ash blond color box and perhaps the most maybe only 1/3 of this product or at the very most only use half of this product because if not it will dark it sooooo much even after using a volume 30 if you put the whole thing of this product it will be too dark you will go from having a natural dark brown hair and putting on a level 8 light ash blond color box with volume 30 if you put the whole thing of this product your hair will look DARK brown but very ash so literally only use 1/4 or 1/3 of this product.

Ion is no longer making this product
This is a great product! My hair has a tendency to go brassy, even after using ash colors. I used the ash intensifier in my dyes and also it worked great added into my conditioner after each hair washing, to keep the brassiness at bay. However, Ion is no longer making this product, which being a creme was easy to use and lasted a long time. Their replacement product is a purple liquid that is hard to dispense and makes a mess! staining my hands and even my drying towels after washing and drying. And the new product does not work like the creme product. If anyone can tell me where to get the creme product, I'd like to know.

I finally have the perfect natural ash blonde I've always wanted.
I have very fine hair. I can't do bleach on it because it will fry my hair. I've been switching hair dressers because they just could not get my hair looking like a natural ash blonde. I got so tired of the brassiness, that I decided to investigate at Sally's. Finally, I mix the high lift ash blonde (2 oz) with 2 oz of 20 developer and 2 oz of 30 developer and half of the THIS INTENSIFIER - PRMANENT HAIR COLOR ADIDDITIVE. I make about 20 little pony tails with ouch less rubber bands and wrap the ends in toilet paper. I start with the back and work my way forward putting the color only on the roots (within a few minutes all the roots are covered) I wait for about 40 minutes and then take off the toilet paper and rubber bands off ( within 5 minutes) then wash my hair. I have a white steak, and I color this with a bit of the color without the intensifier - I save a bit with a turkey baster before adding in the intensifier. If you add the intensifier to white hair, it will turn blue. Looooove my hair now. Perfect!
