Overnight bag is not a good travel bag but works as a laptop bag
I originally looked at the weekender version of this bag as a travel bag, but ended up buying a different bag. I remembered the overnight version though when I was later looking to replace my work laptop bag. This bag is really terribly designed for use as an overnight travel bag, as many others have said the compartments are too small and too many. However, this works nicely for my work laptop bag. It seems to be well constructed and sturdy, and is comfortable to wear. The center compartment has a sleeve that I use for my laptop, and I can fit my thin travel keyboard, mouse, charger, and headset in there with it. The back compartment fits my notebooks, a purselet, and a cardigan. The front pouch is for pens and cables, and right now the tablet pouch is perfect for my collection of cloth masks that I'm required to wear at work, although it really does seem like a worthless pocket otherwise just taking up space. Update November 2021: I've been using this bag daily as a work bag since June of 2020 and it still looks brand new. I've grown to love it more (increase to 5 stars) as it's held up really well and there are so many functional storage pockets and pouches, which is great since we have open office/no assigned seating so everything I need lives in my bag. The material also keeps things inside pretty dry when you're out in the rain, which is also very nice. The only thing I really wish this had is a stretchy mesh water bottle holder on the side opposite of the zip side pouch (which holds my travel umbrella since it's not shaped well for a water bottle). That would make this bag absolutely perfect.

Just like its competitor, only better
I have both the eBags Professional Slim and the Amazon Basics Slim-Overnight. I like both bags but the Amazon version has more features that the eBags Slim doesn't. The Amazon Slim has a handle on the side, so you can carry it horizontally and vertically. Also, if you don't want to wear it like a backpack, you can stow away the straps. The eBags version has neither of these features. Both bags have a lot of pockets and compartments. The Amazon Basics has a compartments for a laptop, main compartment for books and some clothes, tablet, and a small compartment for a smartphone (this came as a surprise to me because the pictures make it look like there's only three compartments). The main compartment has a lot of padding so there's not enough room to fit clothes and shoes. I wish that the laptop compartment had just as much padding. When I was reading reviews about this bag, a lot of people stated that the bottle holder was small. There must have been some changes made because this backpack was able to hold my 25oz water bottle securely. One tip, though, is to make sure that you unzip the compartment COMPLETELY. The zipper is tricky and it unzips at the bottom as well, this might be why others stated that the holder was too small. If you are looking for a stylish and unique laptop backpack, without paying more than $60, I highly recommend this bag.

Great Work Back Pack
I purchased this OVERNIGHT version bag to replace an Incase Ion Backpack (horrendous bag). I needed something for daily commute and also monthly work trips. I had tried an eBags Professional slim and professional Slim junior and neither exactly fit my needs (especially for the price) This bag seems to be pretty great. PROS: 1. Size (See photo) I am 5'4" and relatively slim build so a lot of back packs overwhelm my frame. this is just small enough to be comfortable on my back. 2. Color options- I know its not the most important thing, but I appreciate not only having black and grey as a choice. the denim is a subtle grey-blue that is professional without looking so intense. 3. Dedicated pockets- - I like the small "catch all" pocket on the top- great for holding keys/ work badge/phone -large main compartment holds my big padfolio, 2 small notebooks, Bose QC headphones, and has some room to spare. I do wish this pocket unzipped all the way around so it could be packed more like a suitcase (like the ebags professional series) This would make this a much more versatile bag. - front accessories pocket is handy for staying organized without being too compartmentalized. The obnoxious orange does help with visibility. (I store all my charging cords, mouse, pens, power bank, tide pens, tampons and still have more space) This pocket unzips all the way so packing is really easy. you aren't trying to slip your hand into a cramped space (looking at you Incase Iso) - front pocket is almost the whole length of the bag so there is plenty of room. I usually have it empty, but for trips I stash my book in here. - tablet pocket is super handy for flights, no digging for my fire tablet - laptop pocket is probably my least favorite. It upzips in the same inverted L as the main compartment, meaning my laptop could slip out the side if I don't zip it all the way up. The pocket is also the full size of the bag so with charger and my 13 inch dell I don't even remotely fill the space. This leaves me feeling like my laptop isn't super secure and that I am wasting space. - water bottle pocket is magnificent- why do so few professional bags include a spot for a water bottle? when not traveling I use the pocket to quickly stash my car keys since it can be zipped all the way up 4. Price Point at about half the price of the ebags professional line with almost the same functionality, this bag is pretty hard to complain about 5. luggage strap- Good lord the little things go a long way. I will never have a backpack that won't slip on my suitcase again. the airport bar is 10 times less stressful now. Cons: 1. awkward sizing of the laptop pocket (see above) 2. lack of suitcase or clamshell opening in main compartment 3. the orange really is obnoxious, but fortunately It isn't visible from the exterior 4. I would love if the main pocket was a little deeper (maybe take some of the space from the laptop pocekt) to make this a more versatile travel bag. I know I could have gotten the weekender version, but it was just too large overall for my frame. Overall, I am VERY pleased with this bag and am glad I found it before the busy summer audit season begins.

Met my expectations
I just got back from a two week trip in Europe where I only use carry-on luggage. This was to supplement my carry-on suitcase. Although it didn’t completely open and make it easy to get things in and out, it did hold a lot of stuff. One of the nice features is is that it will fit under the seat in front of you on an international carrier with no problem. The water bottle zipper on the side could be bigger because I had to buy smaller bottles in order for them to fit. But overall it held a lot of stuff, slid well over the handle of my other suitcase for hauling around and I felt very secure traveling with it. I like the bright color on the inside. The orange makes it easier to find things that may have gotten hidden. But honestly Amazon, does it have to say Amazon Basics On the outside? I’m not a brand snob or anything but just thought it looked kind of stupid…

Great bag, thought a little tight in some areas
This bag deserves a 5 star because Amazon really checked off all boxes to be considered a premium quality bag. The looks is great, labeling is discrete, and not a white amazon basics logo on a black background (that really ruined a lot of previous products for me) and the style reminds me a lot of more expensive bags. I ended up actually really liking the orange interior contrast. Overall, there is a lot of pocket for pretty much everything, in areas where they are actually useful - not little niche pockets that you will never use. The only thing is that the bag does not have a lot of flex, so if you are trying to carry things that are a bit more squared than rectangular, it will not allow a lot of flexibility. Luckily, the zippers are well built so you can still force it a little bit. The only thing I would change is make the rear, largest compartment that connect to the strap, have a bit more flex material built in, to allot larger items like food containers and stuff. Amazing buy overall - great job Amazon!

Awesome laptop bags, terrible travel packs.
Incredible build quality - but that's the problem. Every wall has huge built in padding. I bought both the overnigher and the weekender. The fact they refuse to post a spec sheet with the weight is no accident. They're insanely heavy, but as they're "slim" models, there's literally no chance in hell these can be used as travel backpacks with clothes under this design. I have a Nomatic travel pack that's listed at 4lbs/Cordura material and both of these Amazon travel packs are comparable to that weight for a fraction of the cargo room. (Nomatic is 20-30L depending on expansion zip.) I also have a Mystery Ranch 50L that might actually be lighter also at 4.8 pounds; and that one has amazing dispersion and suspension, so it can carry insane capacity. (I've actually been able to take it as carry on luggage without hassle.) Obviously, both the Nomatic and Mystery Ranch packs are top of the line and not cheap, so not fair comparisons in-class, but I'm trying to give you ideas of capacity possible based on material weight. Neither the weekender nor the overnigher can pack much; frankly, the cargo space of the Weekender was better suited to overnighting, the Overnighter is essentially an ultra heavy-duty laptop bag that happens have shoulder straps.) This bag's primary and only purpose by its design is gear protection. There's simply not enough packing space, "on the road" features, nor light enough to be considered a backpack, let alone a travel pack. The good: +Durable build in bag material, very padded. Excellent choice where gear protection is the primary use. Strong zippers. +Roller sleeve for putting on suitcase is well made. +Excellent padding for back, very good offset to avoid sweaty backs. +The outermost compartment layout with lots of zippable pouches was a piece of design genius. I wish I could put it on a different bag. Really awesome. Don't change a thing there. +zippable water bottle bungee mesh (and compartment)on the outside side is a good feature +nifty zippable stash pockets, well hidden (two"between the main compartments," 1 in the luggage holder tunnel) The bad: -Both are stuuuuupidly heavy due to the very thick padding they jammed in every dividing wall. Even internally, mind you, between its own compartments. Even the Overnighter is too heavy to start with. I like to protect my gear in a travel backpack, don't get me wrong, but not at the cost of having a brick strapped to me all day when it's not providing extra storage for it. I repeat: neither of these are travel backpacks. The Overnighter isn't a suitable day pack by capacity, the Weekender barely is (and that's putting aside the weight issue). -The zippers have a lock loop, but it locks to an anchor metal hoop sewn into the side with a fabric link. Could be snipped with toenail clippers, so what's the point? Zippers that lock to each other are a better deterrent and defense against opportunity snatches - any bag can be broken into, the key to decent bag security is it's not easy or fast to do it without something drastic like slashing the bag (which hotel maids and petty crooks, etc. tend not to do in quick grabs.) -The zippers are LOUD metal that clang - and remember, it's not double-zippered per track and then hitting each other, it's single zipper per track. So there's zero justification for all this constant noise from every single zipper (and there's a lot of them). -no waist strap or modular loops, though does have sternum strap. That's a big omission for a travel pack. -Awful attachment loops for shoulder straps in the sense that they're very thin plastic. Are they insane? For how sturdy the rest is, this was a shock. It's a cool idea for how to hide the shoulder straps to make it more briefcase-like. Needs to be aluminium here. Blowing one of these out is a pending catastrophe that's guaranteed to happen and that'll see you miserable and hand carrying stuff instead of enjoying your trip. It's a pretty stupid oversight.

Easy to carry and easy to use!
This travel backpack works great for me! It has a ton of small pockets in the front main zippered area, easy place to put small things necessary for travel, like glass wipes, disinfectants, external battery pack and much more. There are also two pockets at the top of the back that are soft lined, for your cell phone or tablet. The two main areas in the bag are perfect for travel confirmations and documents, or it could easily hold two laptops with chargers. While this isn't really a weekender bag, as it would be difficult to easily reach clothes or toiletries, that isn't what this is for in the first place. For an easy to grab travel back which holds everything you need at this price, it can't be beat!

Great Suitcase-Like Backpack
I wanted to buy a smallish backpack that was designed more like a suitcase than a traditional book bag and one with the capability to slip over the handle of my rolling carry-on case (which this one does both vertically and horizontally). This backpack met all of my specifications almost perfectly! The only thing I would change is having the zipper of the largest compartment go all the way around the bag so it could open up completely. This backpack is well-constructed and the grey color is a nice neutral that goes with anything. I really like the interior orange color as well since it makes things in the pockets stand out. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the zippers are built to accommodate locks and are made of metal so they'll last. There are also anchors sewn into the backpack that the zippers can be locked onto which is great Since I've always used a backpack as my underseat carry-on in the past, I don't anticipate this bag causing any problems when I use it in the same capacity, though I will update further when I can confirm for certain.

great for travelling and or work
I bought this bag for travelling around Japan and it worked great and now I use it for work trips and carry on luggage. It has three main compartments, one for misc things, one for electronics and another for your passport, pens, and small containers. It is great quality, I have put it through some hard time and its still looks brand new. I wish the chest strap that goes across was able to go lower as it would be much more comfortable when the bag is heavy.

Awesome Bag.
Its a fantastic bag for daily office goers. You can use this aa a normal bagpack or tuck in the shoulder straps inside so that you can carry it like a office bag with the retractable handles. Material of top notch. No complaints. Few may think its a stiff bag but it appears like a durable premium material. You get a dedicated section with numerous compartments to keep your gadgets, harddisk, powerbank, keys, pen, stylus, wallet, cables etc. Laptop section also jas a detachable buttom padding which will protect your laptop when accidentally dropped. I love the bag.

Excelente mochila
Producto completamente recomendado.

Review of AmazonBasics Slim Carry on Travel backpack
The bag is excellent buy for the money. I scoured the internet for a backpack that will help organise items. After exploring ebags, Everki, Nomatics, Swiss military, Samsonite etc.. I zoomed into Amazon basics. I was impressed by ebags and Everki (bought a office bag) but the respective price point was too high for me. Amazon basics slim carry on travel backpack gives almost same features (for organisation) at much less Rs 4999. The bag maintains it's shape (stiff) without any load. Does not stand on it's own unless loaded Bag zippers are good quality (not sure whether YKK). Only the water bottle holder zipper gives problem as the mesh comes in the way. The water bottle holder holds Quechua water flask of .4L easily The laptop sleeve holds 17 inch Dell Inspirion quite easily. Even larger laptops may fit comfortably The material is not nylon. It is some kind of a tough cotton cloth. Dark grey looks good The colour of the bag is not absolutely black. It is dark greyish but still looks good The bag comes with two small pockets near the top handle. One has dark interiors with smooth cloth for glasses and the other (larger) is for tabs The base in the laptop compartment and the other large compartment is quite wide which I plan to used for holding overnight travel clothes and accessories. The negative point is the cheap plastic hook for the shoulder straps. They will break within few month. I plan to replace them with steel ones. Over time the bag may get a fold in the middle like we get in leather shoes due to the way the organiser pouch opens out. It is unlike the ebags where they open as a note book Overall, good organisation and holding capacity.
