Really good system, easy off, easy on, have been using this unit for 12 years or more. Frig and sink hookup.

I had to do more research than I felt was necessary to actually figure out what I was buying and if it would work with the filter holder/filter set I bought at Wally World. So, being the nice guy that I am, I'll post it so you can make a better informed buying decision.. The 3M Filtrete 3US-PF01 is the advanced replacement filter cartridge designed to fit Filtrete Systems 3US-AS01, 3US-PS01 and Whirlpool Systems WHCF-SUF, WHCF-SUFC. This is a genuine 3M Filtrete Professional Water Filter. 54417. Replaces the old part number WHCF-SRC and WHCF-SR. The 3US-PF01 Product Specifications: Micron Rating: 0.5 Capacity: 2,000 or 6 months Flow Rate: 2.0 GPM Operating Temp: 40-100 F Operating Pressure: 25-125 psi Dimensions: 13 11/16" x 3 3/16" No Tool Required for filter change Filtrete Systems equipped with an internal shut-off valve Notice the "Micron Rating." This filter does a better job than MANY reverse osmosis systems!!! .5 micron rating is ridiculously small and will astound you with how much better your coffee, icecubes, cooking water, etc. will taste. You WILL notice a drop off in your water pressure at the sink tap when you use it. I consider that to be an engineering limitation and easy to live with. When you use the hot water you'll still have all the pressure you need. BTW, take your time when installing it. I know, if you've got a cramped under sink area it can get pretty claustrophobic under there. Well, suck it up, buttercup, and do it right the first time. Otherwise, you'll be under there SEVERAL times trying to get it right. Having an attentive helper to hand you tools, etc. will definitely be a big help for you so you won't have to slither in and out of there to get it done. Your effort will be worth it. You'll love the way your water looks and tastes. Btw, if you have REALLY bad water, I'd recommend some type of string filter before it. One of the "whole house filters" would be a good choice. (If you're concerned about your water quality, you should probably have one of those installed on your house anyways.) That way, you won't be clogging up this filter prematurely with large particles.

Great filter. Easy to replace, water taste clean & pure and it has the 3-m name so you can be pretty sure its made well and to higher standards. This one filters out sediment, chlorine & cysts. My only observation or complaint would be that it does not mention lead where most other superior replacement filters in this price range would. Perhaps it does but it I don't see it? The under the sink setup on the whole unit is pretty easy but the only thing that bothers me there is the plastic hose hookup via plastic compression clamps. Its easy to do and seems to works well but never the less it scares me a little. I would have preffered screw clamp ends. Well this review is for the filter replacement. They only offer two types so this is the one to get since the other whlie cheaper by about $10.00 does not filter out cysts and who knows what else?

We used to have the Aquasana under sink filter, and the refills were crazy expensive and they were so hard to replace that I always put it off a little too long. I bought this system based on the positive reviews, and I'm generally pleased. The installation of the main housing is a snap, and changing out the filter takes no more than 15 seconds. (I couldn't believe how swell it worked.) I wish I knew more about how effective the filter is, compared to the competition, but that seems like really difficult information to find. There's something just a little scam-y about the water filtering industry, an it's hard to tell what's worthwhile. We have well water that is extremely high in minerals and this filter definitely improves the taste, smell and look of the water. The manufacturer recommends replacing the filter every 6 months, but at the 3-month mark, it became apparent that we needed to swap ours out. The water started to taste bad and the water pressure diminished. With the new filter, there's no pressure loss at all, so I think we maxed out the filter. Every three months is fine, although the price is pretty high, especially 4 times a year. (But all the filters, even the Brita pitcher filter, are overpriced, so there's no way around that.)

I installed the filter kit almost 2 years ago. It was, as advertised and directed, quite easy to install. the toughest decision was where to mount the bracket for access. I calculated out, based on a 1 week consumption, that the 2000 gallons of cold water only usage would last 8 months. I checked flow and particulates at 6-month, 7-month, and 8-month. Filter was still going strong. no loss in filtering or flow. I did notice at month 9 the flow was not interrupted, but particulates were present. Therefore, it does filter AT LEAST 2000 gallons rather well. As time went on, we used that faucet as our main water source, so it quickly became 4-5 months replacement. Still, not a bad cost to ensure safe water for my family. As I notice the price fluctuating, I will stock-pile some filters for future use instead of buying the backup once I use the other. I HIGHLY recommend the filter kit and this filter as replacement Filtrete Under-Sink Advanced Water Filtration System (3US-PS01). alternative filter (3US-AF01) also useful, but does NOT microbials.

Great Product!

It's winter right now—which means I'm filling my humidifier every night to protect against dry January air and dried-out, bloody nose (ew). Before installing my under-the-sink filter, the humidifier had to be de-scaled at least twice a week with CLR to get out what crap the water left behind. And the mist left a whitish yuck film over everything! Not good! Since I started using this filter, I only have to de-scale maybe every other week (still clean it weekly w/bleach) and no more yucky white film. It even runs quieter now, and I'm filling the gallon tank at least twice a day! Yay! That's just one benefit of this amazingly simple and highly effective filter. Water tastes a heck of a lot better, food and dishes cleaned in the sink are simply *cleaner*, and your sink area will be cleaner overall. Clonine taste instantly gone, alone with any cyst nasties down to 0.5 micros. You will end up drinking a lot more water, and enjoying it more. Switching filters out literally takes 10 seconds, using no tools. FAR more efficient and economical, not to mention sanitary, than pitcher filters. Try it, and you won't want to drink "bottled" water again.

In my neighborhood we have dirty water, by that I mean it actually has sediment in it. It also wreaks like an over-shocked swimming pool. This filter fixes all of that and gives me delicious, clean, drinkable water from the tap. It is very easy to install and the housing (which is included in a different kit) has a shut off valve, so removing the filter automatically shuts the water off. Installing a filter automatically turns the water back on. There are a few drips when changing the filter, but nothing significant. Better yet, the filter design has been improved! It now features a few "feet" on the bottom so it will stand upright, it was formerly round and would topple. This makes setting it down while reaching under the sink much more convenient. The packaging is minimal, minimizing waste. The price point and quality are very favorable when compared to other brands, I used to sell filters and still chose this product over the brand I sold.

New design improves water flow significantly. This is one of the easiest to install and replace under sink filters and you can trust 3M for accuracy in the rated performance. They are a bit expensive when you have to replace every 6 months but worlds better than Brita or other carafe style filters.

Don’t buy it! The water flow was fine in the first week or two, then it reduced significantly and you will need to replace with the new filter!
